The fee structure at JNTUH for the popular courses is as follows. 

• B.Tech: INR 1.19 lakhs.
• M.Tech: INR 3.09 lakhs.
• MCA.: INR 3.06 lakhs.

All the fees mentioned above are for the first year. The fee for IDDMP courses is INR 70,000 per semester.

The structure of the fees also depends on the reimbursement of the same and the Management Quota. The fee reimbursement candidates get an exception of fees of INR 35,000 and they will have to pay a fee of INR 65,000 a year.

The candidates in the management quota have an understanding with the college department that is mutual. The bracket price comes around to 4 or 5 lakhs once you have completed the degree.

The definition of a Tier 1 college may vary from person to person as it majorly depends on an individual’s opinion. Yet going by the general characteristics defined for a Tier 1 college, it can be successfully concluded that NIT Calicut is a Tier 1 college. 

Various reasons can be stated for the same –

1. If we consider the NIRF as a major deciding factor then it can be seen that the college has seen a huge rise from 2018, and now it has shifted to the 23rd position.
2. The courses, faculties including the facilities provided by the college are at par as to what you can expect from a top tier college.
3. We can conclude that in the placement scenario, the college has seen a steady rise in the median and the highest package over the last couple of years. The median salary for last year stood around 8 lakhs per annum.

Hence, we can conclude that it is a tier -1 college and is far better than many IITs and NITs. As per the NIRF ranking, It stands at the 28th position all over India leaving behind IITs, NITs, and other colleges in the Engineering stream. Among the NITs, it stands at the top 5th position.

The college stands at 3 all over India, where only 2 IITs, i.e. IIT Roorkee and IIT Kharagpur are better than it while among the rest of the colleges and the NITs, it is at the first position in Architecture. All of these facts further strengthen the argument that NIT Calicut is a tier -1 college in India.

One of my friends joined IIM Lucknow and this answer will be based only on his experience and the advice he had received from his seniors. It may differ from now because his experience was 3 to 4 years ago.

Below are the pieces of advice that my friend’s batch received from their seniors:

Clothes:

• At least one business suit is a must-have. Girls can wear a saree instead but it is not usually seen. You will also need to pack business formals with you (full-sleeved-shirts and trousers for boys and similar for girls as well).
• You can wear anything that you would like to. However, it also depends on the professor in class and sometimes in the library. 
• Summers are scorching and winters, very cold. You will have to decide whether you bring clothes for all the seasons at once or visit home during the first term break before winter starts.

Stationery and Computing: 

• Notebooks, registers, and pens are available on campus. 
• A tiny part of students bring their own printers but, you can always create an account at the computer centre paying Rs 1000 and recharging at Rs 500 for printing purposes.
• It is better to buy laptops from anywhere you would like but not from the campus because the bulk deals on campus bring great laptops but provide minimal discounts. 
• There is no facility for personal Wi-Fi routers.

Documents: 

• Carry all the documents that you have got- records, mark sheets, certificates everything. 
• Summer placement will be round the corner, and since you may not have enough time to do anything at IIML, your previous documents will be really helpful.
• All the claims on your CV will be cross-verified. So, carrying supporting documents is equally important. 
• In case, you have lost the documents, an email from the responsible authority will do.

Hobbies and Entertainment: 

• There are many good cinema halls and eateries in the city for your entertainment purpose. 
• You definitely will be able to make time for your hobbies. 
• Different kinds of workshops are also held such as Salsa Lessons, Guitar lessons, French lessons, etc.

You will learn a lot from your seniors once you are at the campus. I hope you will come out better as a person.

FISAT Kochi has been ranked at 96th for Engineering among Indian Engineering colleges, SCMS Cochin has been ranked 85th, Rajagiri ranked 83rd and Mar Baselios (MBCET) is ranked in the bracket of 100-125 among Indian Engineering colleges. All the above colleges are NAAC ‘A’ grade accredited colleges.

Admission Process:

• Admission to the FISAT BTech program is based on the scores obtained inKEAM/JEE Main, followed by counselling, and admission to the program through management quota is based on the rank in the merit list.
• At SCMS Cochin, admission is through counselling based on rank obtained in Kerala Engineering, Architecture, Medical (KEAM), and the same is for the Management quota.
• For Rajagiri, admission is through counselling based on the rank obtained in KEAM. Remaining seats will be filled by the Institute based on the marks obtained in 10+2.
• At MBCET, admission is through counselling based on the rank obtained in KEAM. Remaining 50% Management quota seats will be filled on the basis of entrance test and 10+2 marks (50:50)

Placements:

• Accenture, HCL, HP, IBM, Microsoft, Oracle, TCS, Wipro, Vodafone, are some of the top recruiters at FISAT Kochi. The college recorded 70% placement last year for the Mechanical batch.
• Some of the top recruiters of SCMS Cochin are- IBS Software, Infosys, HCL, Infoview, MRF, MU Sigma, Mytrah Energy, UST Global, Wipro, Tech Mahindra are the top recruiters. Around 80% students got placed last year at SCMS Cochin.
• Amazon, Bosch Ltd, Cognizant, Digital Core Technology, Experis IT, GES Infotech, IBM, IBS Software, Indian Navy, Infosys, ITC Infotech, Mahindra and Mahindra are the top recruiters at Rajagiri. The college provided placement to around 90% of the CSE branch last year.
• Accenture, Genpact, Microsoft, Infosys, MU Sigma, Wipro, IBS Software, UST Global are some of the major visiting companies at MBCET. The college recorded 60% placements for its last batch.
