How is the hostel of Lady Brabourne College Kolkata?
The hostels at Lady Brabourne College, (LBC) Kolkata are very basic and usual. The building is very old with corridors having fewer lights making it difficult to walk around.
- The Hostel fees are very less. About INR 1500-2000 per month including food and lodging.
- The whole campus is wifi enabled, which at times gets a bit slower than usual due to heavy traffic.
- LBC hostels are very secured and students here can stay peacefully without facing any major inconveniences.
- In the first year you have to stay in a dorm along with 10-15 other students.
- In the second year you get to share your room with one other student.
- And finally in the third year, you will probably get a single occupancy room.
- There are strict rules which are to be followed by the students. The hostel timings should be taken seriously.
- The food offered here will take some time to get adjusted, but overall it is healthy.
- If you do not have a required percentage in your exams, you will not be allowed to stay in the hostel from the following year.
Many students opt to stay in the hostel but if you want an alternative you can choose to stay as a paying guest. There are many places nearby. The people here are very cooperative and overall it is a good college, so there will not be many problems.

What do you know about an all-course M.Tech at IIT Hyderabad?
My friend has completed All-course MTech at IIT Hyderabad and claims that it has zero recognition outside IIT Hyderabad with a dearth of job opportunities. The course is a one-year program that does not require you to write a thesis/research. All you need to do is study courses in the classrooms. This is a very poor choice for those targeting a Ph.D. as this program isn’t known even at other IITs.
You will be given alien treatment and will end up wasting Lakhs on a useless degree. The majority of the IIT Hyderabad community is unaware of this course. The curriculum is poorly designed and very rigid. The world is intense, sparing you no time for extracurriculars. The majority of the first batch left the course within a few days.
The course is a complete waste of money and time so I am strongly against anyone joining it.
What is the average package for an MTech graduate from IIT Roorkee?

What is your review of S. P. Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR)?
SP Jain is a very good institution of Management yet it lacks the necessary popularity. It is not hyped like the IIMs but this does not mean it is any less than the top B Schools. In fact, there are many aspects that distinguish it from others in the family. The primary points of distinction are
- It has completely different criteria for admission wherein emphasis is given not only to grades but also to the individual’s personality. This is assessed by the firms the students submit answering various questions asked by the college.
- The batch is extremely vibrant and diverse comprising engineers, commerce graduates, and art graduates
- They give considerable weightage to work experience which is often ignored by other B Schools
- It has many international student exchange programs which open doors to new learning experiences and opportunities
- It stresses on value-based education. This means grades are important but not to the point that a student is merely surviving to score high and learns nothing.
- The faculty is extremely capable with a necessary mix of professors with theoretical and industry experts.
So SP Jain offers many areas of development and helps you grow as a human.
Is it okay to leave JBIMS for IIM Trichy as it has an IIM tag and the companies prefer IIMs more?
There are nine reasons for choosing JB over Trichy. Firstly, JBIMS has a stronger alumni base, with many successful CEO's having graduated from the institute. Secondly, JB has a better reputation in the industry. Thirdly, JB ranks in the top 10 colleges, while Trichy is far behind. Fourthly, the average salary offered at JB (INR 27.63 LPA) is higher than that offered at Trichy (INR 17.01 LPA). Fifthly, JB offers better roles and opportunities. Sixthly, the location of JB (Mumbai) is a major advantage over Trichy. Seventhly, the IIM tag carries more weight when one graduates from BLACKI compared to a newer institute like Trichy. Eighthly, the return on investment for JBIMS is higher than that for Trichy. Finally, the cutoff for general category applicants at JBIMS is 99.93%tile+ in the CET, while the cutoff for Trichy is 93%tile+ in the CAT.
This demonstrates the higher level of competition at JB compared to Trichy.
Can you explain the CAP process convened by IIM Rohtak?
Before explaining to you the CAP process convened by IIM Rohtak let’s discuss in brief what exactly CAP is.
CAP stands for Common Admission Process. It is a single admission process conducted by the following IIMs alternatively: IIM Ranchi, IIM Trichy, IIM Rohtak, IIM Raipur, IIM Udaipur, or IIM Kashipur. Under this process, the candidate has to give a WAT/PI(Written Ability Test/Personal Interview) process under CAP. All the member institutes will be given the scores of this test and based on their respective criteria, each institute will declare its own list of shortlisted candidates.

Let’s discuss the various steps involved in this admission process
- Fill in your choices of IIMs in the CAT form.
- When CAT results are declared, the institutes under CAP make a shortlist based on their own criteria.
- The IIM which is organizing the CAP that year collects the shortlisted candidates' names from other institutes and informs them about the CAP IIMs which have shortlisted them for WAT/PI.
- The shortlisted candidates will have received a CAP link which they have to duly fill out. He will also be informed about the date and location of the CAP process.
- On the stipulated date, the candidate will have to appear for the WAT/PI process.
- All the institutes under CAP will receive the details of the score of this process and will release their own final shortlist.
Starting in 2018, every candidate has to appear for CAP irrespective of which IIM they belong to.
How do we calculate Anna University's GPA and CGPA if we have arrears?
The CGPA and GPA are based solely on the subjects you have completed. If you fail seven out of eight subjects in a semester but receive an "S" on the one you did pass, for instance, you will have a GPA of 10 for that semester. Your GPA and CGPA are updated as you pass each of the courses you failed.
Ignore the subjects you failed; instead, focus on the credits for the ones you passed; multiply those credits by the grade you obtained, and continue adding the values for all the subjects you passed. Divide this figure by the total number of credits earned in the subjects you've completed. This will calculate your GPA. Because the credits for each semester are not the same, you must perform this calculation for all subjects beginning with your first semester to determine your CGPA.
