What is the true ranking of NITs and IIITs for CSE in all respects?
My friend got a rank of 13471 in JEE-Main 2019 and after a lot of website research and references from other people; he has come up with the top 10 rankings for 2021:
- IIIT Hyderabad: It has the best faculty for CSE with very hectic college life and rigorous curriculum. Placements are very good here and can be easily compared to those at the top 6 IITs, BITS Pilani, and a tad better than NIT Trichy.
- NIT Trichy: Undoubtedly the best NIT which is a class apart from the rest. The administration is not up to the mark, but you’ll learn to manage on your own. Also, it is supposedly better than most IITs bearing the top 9.
- NIT Surathkal: You will get really good placements and the exciting part is that the college has a personal beach so you can enjoy it to some extent.
- NIT Warangal: The placements are quite at par with NIT Surathkal but except for the beaches.
- NIT Allahabad: You won’t get a happening college life or good infrastructure there but the placements are quite good. The Alumni base of the institute is also decent.
- IIIT Allahabad: The placements are a bit better than NIT Allahabad, but are ranked lower due to its reputation and college life.
- IIIT Delhi: You can get a good potential for research especially if you belong to the A.I domain. The branches offered are also quite unique (some similarity to those offered at IIT J, IIT H, or BITS) which will really help you to apply abroad for research.
- NIT Jaipur: The placements are okay and it is one of the top NITs. Although if you go get in the CS branch then you’ll surely get somewhat better placements than your counterparts.
- IIIT Bangalore: The placements are very good here but it is ranked so low because it only offers 5-year programs. The fee is also much greater in comparison to the NITs.
- NIT Rourkela: One of the oldest colleges and finds its reputation due to the NIT tag. The alumni base and the placements are all good here.
Apart from the top 10, here are is the ranking for the remaining ones:
NIT Kurukshetra> IIIT Gwalior> NIT Hamirpur> NIT Surat> NIT Jalandhar
To sum up, every college comes with its own pros and cons. Thus, setting up your preferences might help you get a clearer opinion whether you want excellent placement, campus facilities, college life or a little bit of all.
What are the dual degrees courses like at IIIT-Allahabad?
IIIT began its dual degree programs in 2013 which looked like B.Tech + M.Tech Dual Degree in I.T with specialization in Robotics and Software Engineering. Forwarding to the next year, an addition was made to these courses, and a couple of more programs were added.
For your convenience I am listing a few of them in detail so that you can get an idea of the structure:
- B.Tech (IT) - MTech (IT) with specializations in:
- Software Engineering
- Human-Computer Interaction
- Intelligent Systems
- Bioinformatics
- B.Tech (ECE) - MTech (ECE) with specialization in Microelectronics and Biomedical Engineering
- B.Tech (IT) - MBA (IT)
- B.Tech (ECE) - MBA (IT)
After completing the 5-year dual-degree program, you will be awarded the B.Tech. + M.Tech./MBA degree. you will find that the first 6 semesters are the same as the B.Tech. (IT)/B.Tech. (ECE) program and the rest have elements of a PG program.
If you go for a lateral entry into the PG (M.Tech. (IT)/ M.Tech. (ECE)/MBA) program then you will get elective courses in the 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th semesters. You may be allowed to change your specialization after the 1st semester, considering your academic performance.
Other such programs include Microelectronics, Biomedical Engineering, MBA in IT, and others. There are good internship and placement opportunities available if you choose the 5-year program. You will work on two small projects, 2 major projects and will have TO submit an M.Tech thesis. In addition to these, in your 3rd year, you can either take up industrial training or a research project under a professor at IIIT A or any other University of your choice. In your fourth year, you will be allowed to sit for placements.
Is MDU Rohtak good for a BTech?
MDU Rohtak is a decent university. It is suggested that you weigh your options such as placements, distance from your residence, transport facilities, faculty, etc. before opting for MDU Rohtak.
- The placements here in the mechanical and electrical branch are not contenting at all.
- If you have other options of better universities available to you at the moment then you should opt for that.
- It is suggested that you keep MDU Rohtak as your last resort.
- If you are reluctant about your decision then you should consult with the seniors of MDU Rohtak to gain a better insight about the facilities and opportunities that would be made available to you as a student of this university.

What are the hostel facility in NIT Kurukshetra?
As a girl student at NIT Kurukshetra, I can tell you about the facilities in girls’ hostels.
The three girls’ hostels are- Kalpana Chawla Bhawan, Bhagirathi Bhawan and Cauvery Bhawan. These are some facilities provided at these hostels-
- All the hostels have single seater rooms.
- There is a strict no ragging policy.
- The rooms are well-lit, well-ventilated and spacious. You will be provided with a wooden almirah, chair(s)-table and a bed. The rooms have a small balcony.
- Washrooms are provided with geysers.
- The newly constructed Kalpana Chawla Bhawan even has a lift facility.
- Each hostel has a LAN or Wifi facility and the internet speed is fine.
- A mess committee comprising 6 students decides the hostel menu.
- The food is nice and only vegetarian meals are served.
- Hostel canteens remain open till 1 am and cater to the needs of hostelites.
- Common rooms are provided in each hostel.
- There is a beauty parlor within the hostel premises. Laundry facility is available.
- Sweepers regularly clean the washrooms and corridors.
- If you want the maid to clean your room, she’ll charge you money for the service.
- You can keep a cooler in your room during the summers. The amount charged will be added to your monthly hostel bills.
- NIT Kurukshetra has a lush green campus. There are gardens and open areas in the hostel premises. You can play in the open areas and do yoga in the gardens.
- The hostels have fridge, TV, and washing machine facility. A Maggie hotspot was recently started in the premises. Kalpana Chawla Bhawan also has a gym facility.
Overall, the hostels at NIT Kurukshetra are really good and worth every cent.
Are there any chances of getting IET Lucknow in the spot round counseling of UPTU for a general candidate?
It's difficult to predict your chances of getting admission to the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) Lucknow through spot round counseling of UPTU.
The spot round counseling is held after all the regular rounds of counseling are completed, and the seats that remain vacant are filled based on the availability of seats and the candidate's rank. The allotment of seats in the spot round is usually based on the candidate's preferences and availability of seats at the time of the counseling.
While there is a possibility of getting admission to IET Lucknow through spot round counseling, it depends on various factors, including the number of vacant seats in the institute, the number of candidates appearing for the spot round, and the candidate's rank.
However, if you have a good rank in the UPSEE exam and the number of vacant seats is high, your chances of getting admission to IET Lucknow through spot-round counseling may increase. It's important to note that the cutoff score for admission to IET Lucknow may also be lower in the spot-round counseling as compared to the regular rounds of counseling.

Is it worth it to do the remote IIM Lucknow's summer internship?
Remote Summer internship from IIM Lucknow is something that actually excites and amazes you, but if you’re planning to pursue it just because of the IIM tag on it, then you need to wait and read the reviews and suggestions provided by students.
A friend of mine has successfully completed it and suggested not to go for it due to some specific reasons. First of all, it is not useful as there are about 70-80 students doing the same remote internship. No personal attention is given to students actually in need.
In the internship program, you have to buy recommended books and a suggested Udemy course as well. Buying a book is enough though it contains all the information and study material you actually need as the same book is used in management courses.
Furthermore, the only good thing about this internship is the online classes and guidance provided by Prof. Sameer Mathur who is one of the best and experienced professors. You can take advantage of his experience and learn new things with simple examples and scenarios. But you need to complete all your assignments and work on your own as the assignments are given on a regular basis including sundays as well. If you really want to complete this internship program then forget about holidays. After successfully completing the internship you’ll get a certificate which will get delivered on your postal address.
The internship program is open to all and anyone can join the program without any prior skill test which somehow decreases the credibility of this internship program. That’s why it is suggested that if your purpose is to learn only and not the certificate then you can simply buy the recommended books and gain knowledge on your own without spending the extra money on suggested online courses.
How good is Mumbai University's Kalina campus for M.A. in Economics? How is the course compared to a similar masters degree from Delhi School of Economics or Madras School of Economics?
Delhi School of Economics, Madras School of Economics, and Mumbai School of Economics and Public Policy are reputed institutes for offering quality education in Economics. If you are considering the Mumbai region, Mumbai University’s Kalina campus is a good institute to do a Master’s in economics.
- The college has a good syllabus which covers almost 8 core papers in the first two semesters.
- Students get the opportunity of doing a summer internship which is assisted by MSEPP. These internships ensure students can confidently enter the corporate world after completing their courses.
In the Mumbai region, IGIDR and MSEPP are the best options for pursuing MA in Economics with good curriculums. IGIDR should be the first preference if you can score well enough in the entrance exam. A close second is MSEPP but it has a heavy dropout percentage.
Did you encounter any good teachers in NSIT and if yes, what did you like about them?
I am an alumnus of the ICE department at NSUT Delhi. These teachers taught me back then and I feel blessed to have studied under them-
- Dr. B.P. Singh - Electrical Machines. He was an approachable teacher and a very grounded person in spite of his achievements in academia. He was genuinely interested in teaching.
- Dr. J.R.P. Gupta - Instrumentation. He was a kind and approachable teacher. He possessed a lot of knowledge and genuinely cared for his students.
- Dr. S.K. Jha - Manufacturing Process. His subject was quite boring but sir made every effort while teaching it.
- Sh. K.P.S. Rana - Instrumentation. Sir was very jovial while teaching, but as serious about research work and projects. He had a great personality and taught in an interesting manner.
- Sh. Sanjay Gupta- Mechanics. Sir had a cool personality and taught well.
- Sh. Anand Gupta- Computer Graphics. Sir took his labs and classes quite seriously. He taught really well and expected his students to use their thinking abilities in the lab.
- Dr. Tarun Kr. Rawat - Linear Integrated Circuits. Sir took a good 20-30 minutes to explain the entire experiment to his students without assuming that they already knew everything about the same.
- Ms. Tanushree Choudhary- English. Ma’am made every effort to improve the student's language skills.
- Dr. Vijay Gupta- Mathematics. He was a kind person and a good teacher.
I don’t know how well they are doing, and if they are still teaching at NSUT Delhi. However, I have learned a lot from these teachers and feel highly indebted to them for having taught me during my years at NSUT Delhi.
What is the process of challenging the AKTU result?
Challenging the AKTU result is a hopeless task. This is because the rechecking is very ineffective, late and expensive. You will end up wasting INR 5000 and nothing good comes out of it.
Most of the teachers here do not pay attention to scrutiny and sometimes the declaration of scrutiny results is also delayed.
So it’s recommended you do not waste your efforts, time and money to apply for rechecking.
Which is better, IIT Delhi (chemical) or BITS Pilani (CSE)?
I am a B.Tech Chemical Engineering student at IIT Delhi. According to me, these are the main factors you should consider while making up your mind:
- Demand: CSE is more in-demand than chemical engineering.
- Brand: The “IIT” tag holds more brand value than the “BITS” tag. The “IIT” tag will be more advantageous if you want to apply to foreign universities for higher education later on.
- Fees: IIT Delhi is an affordable choice, whereas, BITS Pilani has high fees for its engineering programs. Additionally, IIT Delhi has better placements, which places it at a better position in terms of ROI.

Even though CSE is a highly sought after branch in the current market, I would suggest you opt for Chemical Engineering at IIT Delhi. IIT Delhi will offer a better ROI, and its brand name will be of immense benefit if you wish to pursue higher studies in India and abroad after graduation.
