One simple yet concrete reason to choose IIIT Delhi over DTU or NSIT is the quality of education it offers. IIIT Delhi is known to have some of the most highly experienced faculty, top-notch infrastructure, and a well-updated curriculum. Many students from other colleges, even IITs, often come to IIIT Delhi for internships.
As far as placements are concerned, one must understand that getting a job after 4 years is important but not more than a successful long-term career. There isn’t one, rather plenty of things that I wanted to do before leaving VNIT Nagpur-
I wanted to spend one more night at the college canteen with my friends, I wanted to play one last cricket match at the hostel, I wanted to have one last cup of coffee at Nescafe, I wanted to have one last samosa at Nandu’s shop, I wanted to see the sunset at Jhilpi or Ambazari or Futala, for one last time, I wanted to go for one more walk in the campus at midnight, I wanted one last group photograph with my friends.
These are just a few of the many things I wanted to do before leaving my alma mater.
Is Thapar University worth the fees charged?
As mentioned in the answers before mine, it depends mainly on how well you utilize these years. Engineering is a tiring course because of the constant pressure from tests, assignments, projects, and finally, the end sem exams.
Electronics is a good branch at Thapar University. The projects, assignments, classroom lectures and lab sessions involved in it are industry oriented and practical in nature. The Chemical Engineering curriculum is also quite relatable as many of the topics are touched upon during +1 and +2.
Moreover, the Chemical department hosts student exchange programs. Through that, the students go for a 5-8 week long training to countries like Russia, Bulgaria and China. Over there, they are engaged in designing research papers, and attending summits/conferences related to the Chemical industry. The student exchange program is an excellent opportunity to grab long term internships with foreign institutes, and to work on great projects.
Overall, Thapar University is worth the high fees. If you get a chance to study at Thapar, make the most of it.
Is IIIT Gwalior better than NIT Patna?
IIIT Gwalior is way ahead of NIT Patna in terms of placements and infrastructure. It is a central Govt. funded institute and offers good facilities and resources. It is counted among the top institutes in the IT field.
It has an excellent placement record. Top recruiters like Google India, Microsoft, Facebook London, BYJU’s visit the campus placement regularly. IIITM Gwalior placements 2022 was concluded with an average CTC of INR 24.85 LPA.
I am currently doing a job in BPCL. Should I drop it to pursue PGDIE in NITIE?
One of my friends graduated from NITIE and here are some things I got to know from him.
Firstly, I don't think you should drop your job to pursue PGDIE in NITIE.
- NITIE is good for Supply Chain and Operations. But no matter how good it is, it will be nothing compared to a proper work experience.
- Having a friend who is a BPCL employee and an ISB graduate, I would say, in case you want to go for learning industrial management, BPCL would be a great place to be.
- However, if you want to pursue a generic MBA and change your field, probably you would like to try your hands on IIMs, ISB, or other top 10 institutes in India.
- A lot of MBA graduates from NITIE go to FMCG companies. But Supply Chain is not their main focus.
- Due to this sometimes one gets relegated to support function, and their growth in the detector is stunning. It will be difficult to get a business leadership role.
Be very clear about your development goals and why you want to do your MBA since it is only a path to achieve what you want. Generally, things start afresh during the tenure of an MBA.
What is a detailed answer of life in the hostel of BIET Jhansi? Apart from college and academics, how is living in Jhansi in terms of fun and enjoyment?
Life at BIET is pretty chilled out which is a completely memorable experience to cherish. It depends on what kind of fun you are looking forward to. If studies are your major concern BIET Jhansi is the right place for you. Jhansi being a very small town, does not have a very happening nightlife. If you love nature and cherish wide open places, BIET Jhansi will be the perfect place of recreation for you.
Here are a few points that highlights the best things in the college:
- There is an unrestricted access to 10-15 MBPs speed almost all the time. Unlike other colleges in India, there is no issue of some websites being blocked or anything like that.
- The canteen understands the student’s requirements and has been doing a fairly good job of catering to the food needs for quite a long time now.
- There is electricity backup available at the hostel which makes it very easy during the examination times when everyone spends the whole night studying and revising.
- There is a lot of greenery and open space for all the ‘fitness lovers’ and ‘nature lovers’. You can have unlimited fresh air 24X7.
- Contrasting to the other colleges, BIET offers absolute freedom and time to follow your dreams. There is very less interference from the teachers here and also there is no compulsion of following a patterned curriculum.
It would be advisable you to leave all your doubts and confusions behind when you enter BIET and live up to your full potential. This is a good with a very comfortable environment that nurtures developing skills.
How would you describe the girls hostel of Fergusson College Pune What are the other options for a place to live for a student who isnt from Pune?
I would suggest you live in a PG or a flat with roommates if comfortable. The hostel isn’t worth living and it’s better to live outside if you want to enjoy your college life.
- The hostel imposes strict time restrictions. The in-time is 8:30 which is too early
- You can only use mobile phones but you have to pay extra charges to keep the laptop.
- You will always have to get the signatures of your local guardian for leave applications. Otherwise, you cannot go home without permission.
- There are issues with the water supply in the hostel
- You will not be allowed to invite your friends to the hostel rooms.
There are a lot of PG and hostels near to the college at reasonable prices. You can go for it. Unless you are okay with living in a super strict environment with a curfew then you will do fine in the hostel at Fergusson College.
What is the difference between the B-Des programme at IIT-Bombay and the B-Des programme at IIT-Guwahati?
I am a first-year BDes student at IIT Bombay. Design is one of the fastest-growing departments of our institution. My seniors achieved 71% placements in 2023. Top companies like Microsoft, Samsung R&D, Flipkart, Uber etc. offered campus placements to B.Des students in the previous year.

As evident from the above statistics, the B.Des programs at IIT Bombay and IIT Guwahati are equally good.
But IIT Bombay is located in one of the major Indian cities. The advantage of opting for B.Des programme at IIT Bombay is that you’ll get much better off campus opportunities. Moreover, Bombay is closer to other important cities like Hyderabad, Bengaluru, etc.
Thus, I would recommend you join the B.Des program at IIT Bombay.
What things should I compulsarily know before joining SVNIT Surat??
Here are some things you should know about SVNIT before joining the college-
- SVNIT has one of the best hostels in India among technical institutes. The hostels for third and final year boys are great, but first and second year hostels are also good.
- It is up to you to make new friends by interacting with people in your hostel, your classes, and the college clubs and societies.
- The professors are decent in some of the departments, and not up to the mark in others. First and second year students are mostly taught by teaching assistants. It is your responsibility to gain knowledge from your teachers.
- The college gym facility is excellent. The Badminton, Lawn Tennis and Basketball courts are decent. There is a huge Cricket cum Football ground on campus, but it is not maintained properly by the college administration.
- Surat City has really good food joints, especially if you are a Gujarati. The hostel mess serves decent food. Initially the mess food feels really likable, but then it starts to become repetitive and boring. This is the case for every hostel.
- Every hostel has a night canteen facility, and there is a nice central canteen within the campus.
- You won’t be spoon fed, so to get decent grades you’ll have to make a study routine for yourself. No one will tell you to study.
- With a decent study routine, you can easily score 7-8 CGPA, and even go on to score 9 CGPA with some extra effort.
- There’s plenty of hangout spots around the college, ‘Galla’ being a popular one, just outside the campus. There’s plenty of restaurants in Surat, some are affordable, while some are high-end.
Surat is an amazing city, and SVNIT will offer you a lifetime experience.
