Is it safe to join a B.Stat at ISI Kolkata (I'm a non-Bengali student)?
Kolkata is one of India's safest cities. This city attracts visitors from all over India and the world. That's why it's known as the "City of Joy." Bengalis are extremely friendly.
ISI Kolkata is known to have the most sought-after institute in Statistical expertise. It has one of the best faculty members in India. Out of which, 30 professors were published in Standford University.
Moreover, you have got a seat in B.Stat which is considered one of the toughest examinations for Mathematics in Asia. You should base your judgement on the basis of a stereotype as letting go of this opportunity will be a wrong decision.
Almost 50% of the batch consists of Non-Bengalis here at ISI Kolkata. There is no need to worry as the institute also has a rigid anti-ragging policy.
What is the present scenario at VNIT, Nagpur? Is it still worth joining?
I have recently graduated from VNIT Nagpur.
Based on my experience, here are a few things you must know before joining this institute-
- The placement figures are very average. B.Tech CS records 100% (or close to 100%) placements, but its average package is less in comparison to other NITs.
- The hostels are in a poor condition, especially girls’ hostels. The hostel staff is not supportive at all.
- Hostel messes serve poor quality food.
- The administration is not student friendly.
Though it is a national level institution,VNIT requires a lot of improvement in administration, infrastructure and placements.
My rank in the JEE mains is 50000. Should I go for the chemical branch in NIT Raipur?
Yes, you can go for the Chemical branch at NIT Raipur unless you get selected for a better NIT till the last round. Even if you aren’t interested in Chemical Engineering, you need not worry as NIT Raipur has a branch change policy that lets you upgrade your branch to a better one after one year. You need a good CGPA and enough vacant Seeta in the desired branch to make this possible. Many of my friends at NIT Raipur have upgraded their branches from chemical to IT, Electrical, and Civil.
Usually, the students of this branch are hired by mass recruiters. These companies offer jobs in various fields in case you don’t want to continue working in the Chemical field. Last year, the Chemical Engineering branch received 54 offers and the total number of students eligible for placements was 55.
In all, NIT Raipur is a decent choice given its high-paced development rate.
How much should I score in BITSAT to get a decent branch in BITS goa?
The BITSAT score you need for securing a decent branch in BITS Goa changes each year due to a variety of factors. The recent cut-off BITSAT scores for various courses at the BITS Pilani Goa campus is given below.

Now it is always advisable to prepare for JEE (Advanced) more than BITSAT. This does not mean the Goa campus of BITS Pilani is bad or BITSAT is really easy. Many students actually keep BITSAT as a backup plan in case they fail to get IITs and I think it is a good strategy. Any day you should aim for IITs. But around 4-6 months before the exam you should know your potential and seriously consider whether you should give BITSAT or not.
As for the exam difficulty, it is often considered that BITSAT has a lower difficulty level than JEE (Mains). While that may be true but the time constraint, accuracy, and the competition from students should also be taken into account. You should take at least 10 practice BITSAT tests to nail your time management skills.
Finally, I would suggest that get a good grasp of mathematics and you can certainly excel at any entrance exam.
How is the M.Tech in welding technology at NIT Trichy in terms of placements?
Welding technology has the distinct advantage of having some organizations who come to NIT Trichy solely to hire welding masters. In core welding firms, more than 50% placement is guaranteed. During the placement process, many software and mechanical firms visit the campus.
- According to the recent placement highlights, the placement average for Welding Technology was around 60%. The placement average is less this year due to the ongoing pandemic.
- The average CTC offered in the placement is 7-9 LPA.
- The major recruiting companies that visit the campus are Tata Steel, Caterpillar, Lincoln, etc. NDT companies also recruit from Welding. If you have the required skills you can also sit for software and data science roles.
- Almost 60% of the branch get placed in Mechanical core while the remaining 40% get placed in sectors like software, marketing, etc.
If you have good CGPA and decent communication skills then getting into core sectors from Welding Engineering at NIT Trichy will not be that difficult.
Which college is best, SRM Easwari or Panimalar?
The comparison between SRM Easwari and Panimalar can be drawn with the help of the following headings:
Education:
- Panimalar can make your studies too stressed as per some students. You will be very relieved after graduating from here.
- SRM Easwari Engineering College is good but it's just an Easwari Engineering college. The curriculum does not stress the students a lot. If you study well, you can survive. The faculty members are always ready to help you.
Internal Examinations:
- According to some students, you will surely be rewarded a minimum of 15–16 in Panimalar.
- While the case for SRM Easwari is not the same. You will have to study to gain every single mark. You would have to deserve your position by studying and scoring well in exams.
Transportation:
- Bus Services are available for students of Panimalar for a smooth process of transportation.
- In SRM Easwari you can have the MTC, transport (bike/car), and the college bus (AC/ Non-Ac).
Campus:
- Panimalar is situated outside the city area and the campus life does not offer as compared to SRM Easwari.
- The Easwari campus on the other hand may be small but is situated in the city and it's too good to pass time because theatres and malls are available for fun lands.
Fees:
- The fee structure at Panimalar is according to the guidelines received from the government.
- SRM has a brand name and thus it charges a lot, be it for the book fees or the transportation. It also provides placement training and software classes to students that can be utilized effectively for recruitment drives.
In conclusion, SRM Easwari Engineering College is considered to be better than Panimalar.
Which one is better correspondence course MA psychology from from IGNOU or MSc Psychology from University of Madras?
IGNOU is better recognized for distance courses. So, pursuing a correspondence course in MA Psychology will be better. However, if possible try to do a regular course in counseling, clinical or industrial psychology. Psychology is practical oriented subject, and you will need to do dissertations, practicals, and internships as a part of coursework. Being a practical-based course, the career outcomes of correspondence degrees in Psychology are somewhat limited.
Are the job profiles offered at MDI Gurgaon on par with IIMs like LIK, not ABC? How much effort does one have to put into his future to get on par with the IIM graduates if one graduate from there?
IIML is clearly superior to MDI in non-marketing specializations in terms of placement. However, IIM I, K, and MDI are generally equal in terms of placements, except for a few banks that specifically seek out the IIM tag at I&K. If you work equally hard at either campus and all other operational factors are constant, you will likely end up in a similar position whether you choose MDI or I or K. However, as mentioned before, IIML still has the edge and requires more effort if you're in the finance or consulting field.
If you're interested in MDI, it's worth noting that recent placement reports show more and more prestigious finance and consulting companies are visiting the campus. This has helped MDI deliver well-rounded placements. So, if you're willing to put in the work, MDI could be a good option for you.
What is the full procedure for IGNOU (exams and all)?
The procedure for IGNOU exams depends on the program you have opted for. My answer is related to Arts/ Science/ Commerce except for BCA. The procedure is as follows:

Register yourself into a program at Study center near you.

You will receive your study material within a month along with the schedule of classes. These classes are held at the study centre on weekends.

Internal Assessment Projects are issued by December and should be submitted by March. Prepare well for project assignments as 30% weightage is taken into consideration

Appear for June Term End Examinations

Result will be announced within 45 days
How many marks in the board and the GUJCET are needed to get CS at DAIICT?
You will need to score 99+ percentile in boards and a GUJCET score of around 50 to get CS at DAIICT. For 2021, DAIICT cutoff for CS was 2-52 (for General category).
The number of seats available for CS minor is limited. The seats are also divided. Some of the seats are occupied by students from the Gujarat board and some are occupied by All India category students. So, you will need to be at least in the top 100, to be selected.
