Remarks

Postive remarks are Placements, flexible academic schedule, decent fee structure, large and green campus, exposure. Negatives are Strict rules, night cap for boys and evening cap for girls to stay in hostels.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The course curriculum is updated regularly with new courses being added periodically. Syllabus of the courses is updated regularly. In SASTRA, exams are categorised as CIA(Continuous Internal Assessments) and Semester examinations. There are a total of 3 CIA'S. CIA marks weigh 50 percent of the total score and other 50 percent is taken from the semester exam.

Placement Experience

4

Placements are quite good. Almost every eligible candidate ends up with atleast one job offer in his/her hand. Few companies that visited our college during our placement session are Informatica, Amazon, Paypal, Deloitte, TCS, Accenture etc. Some companies provide internship opportunities.

College Events

4

Three events namely Kuruksastra, Daksh, Colosseum happen in the even semester of every year. Kuruksastra is SASTRA's cultural festival, Daksh is technical festival and Colosseum is Sports festival. All these events include participants from various colleges from the state.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure is very much feasible compared to peer private deemed universities. Tuition fees is 65,000 per semester (2 Semesters per year). If one decides to go with a university based on its fee structure, then SASTRA would be the best choice.

Fees and Financial Aid

SASTRA offers Hostel scholarships for hostel inmates with high academic performance and good classroom attendance. In addition to this, merit scholarship is awarded to the top 2% and 10% students of each department.

Campus Life

4

Labs are well equipped. There is an indoor stadium which also has a Gymnasium in it. There is an open ground for outdoor games such as cricket. In addition to these, there are dedicated fields for football, basketball, volleyball, handball.

Hostel Facilities

3

Yes, I have opted for a hostel. Hostels in SASTRA are pretty average but they are decent and maintained well. Hostel fees is very less and hence the facilities too are less. Single, double, triple, four ,five and six sharing rooms are available.

Alumni/Alumna

Seniors are quite helpful and SASTRA is ragging free campus. Seniors provide guidance to juniors. Alumni network is very vast and good. Most of them work in MNC's and few of them run their own companies. Having that kind of diverse alumni is always helpful.

Admission

SASTRA admits students based on their JEE Mains score and 12th board percentage. There are two streams for admissions, one through Normalized score which is generated using JEE Mains score and 12th board percentage together with JEE Mains score having highest priority. The second stream of admission is purely based on 12th board marks. I got admitted through stream 1 i.e, JEE Mains+ 12th board marks. SASTRA releases a ranklist based on the normalized scores of all the applicants and then calls students for counselling.

Faculty

3.5

There are few faculty members who are good in their respective areas of interests. All the faculty members support students in research activities and they guide students by interacting with them regularly.

The curriculum is relevant and provides a good balance of theoretical knowledge and practical learning. It prepares students for real-world applications, but more industry projects, practical sessions, and updated teaching methods would help. Exams are generally well-spaced and moderately difficult.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course because it covers important subjects related to computer science, programming, databases, networking, and emerging technologies. The combination of theoretical knowledge and practical subjects influenced my decision to choose this course. The curriculum provides a good foundation in technical concepts and programming. However, more practical projects, industry-based training, internships, and real-world applications would help students become better prepared for careers and further studies.
