Anna University Scholarships
The university provides financial assistance to deserving and meritorious students. A number of scholarships are offered by AU under various criteria. Listed below is brief about the same:
- MBC/ BC Scholarships: This scholarship is awarded to backward category students who are studying in the regular courses. The annual income of the parents should not exceed 2 lakhs.
- SC/ST Scholarship: To be eligible for this, the annual income of the parents should not exceed 2.5 Lakhs. A certificate from Tahsildar is essential as proof of the category.
- Merit-cum-means Minority Scholarship: The students belonging to Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, and Sikkim can apply for this. The annual income of their income must not exceed 2.5 Lakhs.
- Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship: This scholarship is for students studying in colleges and universities. To be eligible, a student must score more than 80% marks in HSC exams. They must also maintain 75% attendance in 1st year.
- TN Educational Trust Scholarship: This is available for both UG as well as PG students. The annual income of parents should not exceed 2 lakhs.

Ans. Anna University is the best among all state universities in Tamil Nadu. It is quite affordable in terms of fees for students coming from a middle-class family. The constituent colleges of the university fall under the top-ranked institutes. However, in terms of curriculum, AU is harder than VIT. But the assessments are easy and direct. VIT boasts of a multicultural environment with students from various parts of the country and even foreign nationals, whereas the students in AU are largely from Tamil Nadu.
