Government College of Engineering Kannur, Btech

Remarks

No negatives. The college works in a good manner. But a small negative is on the university side. Because the modules are much tight. And some problems in the conduction and valuation are there some problems.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course curriculum is gone through 8 semesters. And 6 exams for each semester. And also they conduct external exams for each lab. 2 for each semester. So for the 8 sems 48 subjects are there.

Placement Experience

Yes. Our college provides internships. Many companies came here for the placement of students. especially byjus and Infosys. And also many other companies came here. And also mechanical companies too.

College Events

4.5

State and national tech fest. Sports meet conducted in this college. And also events like ieee also held here. Many internships are held here. And also association programs are celebrated here. Also union day college day etc.

Fee Structure And Facilities

For every semester fee must be paid. But it is feasible, not expensive. Because government gives support to backward students. Like obc oec sc st etc. And also we can apply for many scholarships during the academic.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are various scholarships for backward students. No loan facilities are offered by the college. But there are many scholarships available. For various students. In all the semesters. And also we can acquire loans in banks.

Campus Life

Higher quality labs are available and also many faculties are there for teaching purposes. All the instruments are available. For the studying purpose. And also Sports will be held in the college every year.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

I have opted for a hostel. Hostel infrastructure is fine. 3.5/5.all the facilities are available. Mess cook wifi. And also fee structure is much higher. It is affordable. And also the water availability is there.

External Expense: Rs.2000 - Rs.4000

Alumni/Alumna

They are helpful. Byjus app founder is our senior he recruit more students for his companies and also many other alumni came here for the recruitment of the students. Alumni networks are more efficient.

Admission

I got admission to this college by the state government entrance exam. The entrance exam is divided into two sections. One is maths and the other is physics and chemistry. Only those who study the science stream in the highschool can apply for the entrance exam.

Faculty

4.5

They are well experienced. Most of them study at higher facilities college. And they are well corporate to us. For helping. Many of them acquire doctorates. And many of them completed MTech courses.

All the teachers are well qualified and equipped to teach but the quality of teaching differs as per individual.

Dislikes

The say of students in matters concerning them or others is nil. We have very little say as the management takes all decisons.
Teachers have ego and superiority issues between themselves which might affect the children in 4th year, project phases.
Fests, events and functions are not upto any expectations.Schools in trivandrum have better events than our college.

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible from 7th semester to sit for interviews. The pod.ai app helps us in making the resume and calculating a cgpa to appear for the intwrviews. The pod.ai registration fees is 500?. Companies such as nissan, infosys, commandtech, bimlabs, gulfasia etc has visited . And the highest package was 11 LPA and lowest was 3 LPA

TIST , Great college , fun events and more

Likes

Our seniors passed out with flying colors joining different companies or starting their own. There's a good focus on peer learning and student communities which is pretty nice. Canteen food is decent and labs are great
Most people and professors are friendly and they encourage you to try out new things.

Dislikes

Hostel water , busses are pretty fast. Sometimes roads are a bitt rough

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is under KTU syllubus do it's fine. There is a change in curriculum coming 2024 which i assume would make a lot of good changes. The curriculum gives you a head start For most of your work, you need to on your own but the faculty is there to help. The frequency of exams is weekly tests + monthly exams. Its not too difficult of an exam.

I feel like staffs in my department are pretty good, atleast they fullfill their duties to cover the portions in right time
We have placements training, offered free of cost by college itself
Notes and necessary materials for studying are provided from college itself, and most teachers don't force on buying textbooks or other materials

Dislikes

College is located in aarakunnam, which is a bit remote area hence for various needs we often need to travel a few kilometres even for basic necessities
The road to collage entrance is a steep road, and currently it's under construction (it's been a yr)
Students are required to park their vehicles outside the college, as there is no parking facilities for students inside campus

Placement Experience:

Currently placements are bit low, due to inflation, but compared to other colleges like KMEA, etc we have better placements similar to Muthoot and all. We have placement training, and other supports which can help us crack aptitude exams and prepare for placements Almost 70-80% students are placed every year, with an avg package of 4LPA

When it comes to the campus life, I enjoyed all the 4 years
The infrastructure was okayish Could've improved.
The faculty was really friendly and I was able to approach them without any hesitation.

Dislikes

The road from the junction to the college is not at all maintained. Students coming up the hill find it very difficult to reach college
The bus fees are increased every year. But these people can't find a way to provide seats for the students after paying their bus fee.
Some other campus offer many varieties of food in their canteen. This has to be done here too

Placement Experience:

The students usually start appearing for campus placements in their 6th semester. The training for the campus placements is started for all the students from the 4th semester. Many companies visited for campus placements. But one main problem is that most of them were low packages. Around 4LPA. Some were between 4-6 and a very few between 6-10. Most of them got placed in our batch in some company.
