Remarks
The positive thing about this college is that you don't have to apply for extra tutions here as they teach very well. You don't have to worry about any extra classes. The negative thing is that the college is very strict about attendance. And no question banks are provided for the internal exams.
Course Curriculum Overview
The college has a very good course curriculum. It follows the Mumbai University structure. There are two unit tests or internal assessments before the main semester exam. The average of unit test marks is added to the internal marks.
Placement Experience
A number of companies do come here for placements some of them being Infosys Mahindra etc. Roughly 100-110 companies come here each year for placements. Yes pillai college does provide internships to students. In fact the first year students also get internships which is very rare and other colleges do not provide this.
College Events
The most famous event of the entire mumbai university colleges Alegria is conducted by Pillai College each year. In this event a number of Bollywood actors singers come to perform and it is a lot of fun. Other than this many many cultural sports dance events keep on taking place here.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fees is a tad expensive when compared with other colleges but given the facilities and infrastructure provided by the college the fees is entirely justified. The fees per year for engineering is around 1,25,000/-.
Fees and Financial Aid
Scholarships are provided by college to the students. The main among them is EBC. In this we get almost 60% of fees back to us. It is a very nice scholarship which hugely benefits the lower middle class families as the fees is well above 1 lakh per year.
Campus Life
There are many labs for us to work here like the makers lab where a lot of different components are available to us. We can rent them and make some productive thing. Students have made drones in the past. Sports too has a lot of importance here and it is clearly visible by the number of players selected for national level games
Alumni/Alumna
Senior students are actually very helpful. They share their experiences and guide us through the years. A mentor who will be from third or fourth year will be assigned to 20 odd first year students. These mentors do a lot of help and we can ask about anything to them.
Admission
I got admission through CAP allotment process. You have to submit your academic details in the Maharashtra Dte site and fill the college list in preference. If your marks are above the cut off marks then you can get admission the next day by submitting all required forms and paying the fees.
Faculty
The college faculty is surprisingly excellent. The teachers actually teach and work hard to complete the portion unlike other colleges. Doubt sessions and study camps are held before every exam and this actually helps to improve grades
