Remarks

Being a public university, the staff, the authorities slog over their work. One really need to spend a lot of time, money and energy to get your things done. Be it the semester results, scholarships or issue of degree certificates, their delivery depends on how quick your department staff and University authorities work. You may miss some great opportunities due to this delay. But at the end of the day, the brand that Andhra University has is unparalleled even till date in the state.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The University follows a semester system ( CBCS- Credit Based Choice System). It consists of 10 semesters for the 5-year course duration. The curriculum consists of core courses like economics, statistics, operations research, mathematics ( linear algebra, optimization techniques, numerical analysis), forecasting, etc along with certain compulsory electives in entrepreneurship, political science, English (communication, phonetics), etc. Though it's not rigorous, one can leverage the resources and self learn. Best journals like Econometrica are available in the department's library. The peaceful sea view from the classroom with a lush green campus,it is a highly engaging environment to self-study.

Placement Experience

2

There is little or no industry exposure offered by the University to the students. But one can avail a lot of online internships in DIPP, NITI AAYOG,or in websites like internshala or from other sources. The University authorities support our efforts.

College Events

4

The Various National and International level seminars throughout the year, the annual alumni association meet include the large base of alumni dating back to 80 years of University history and ranging from civil servants like IAS, IPS, IRS, IFS, CENTRAL AND STATE EXCISE OFFICERS, industry leaders like G Mallikarjuna Raju ( GMR group)and the ex-Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. The annual AAA meet is a prestigious and a lavishly celebrated and participated event in the University.

Fee Structure And Facilities

For the given set of facilities and course curriculum and the brand of one of the oldest economics Colleges in India, the fee is comparatively very low. If one belongs to reserved categories like Sc,St, obc, etc, the fee is as low as 1800 rupees per annum. I think it's the best bet.

Fees and Financial Aid

One need not apply for a loan to pay the fee. It's 10,500 per annum. But people can submit their cast details and enroll their details in the computerized audit cell to avail partial fee reimbursement and pay fee as low as 1.8k per annum.

Campus Life

3.5

The 422-acre lush green campus which a just a half-mile distance from the seashore is a very engaging place to youngsters. One can hang out at cream stone ( just opposite to the economics department), Au central canteen, basketball court, tennis court, open theatre, Foodex, Sweet India, KFC, INOX movie, etc within 2 to 3 km radius from the campus. The people and the city add to a great masala to campus life.

Alumni/Alumna

The annual Alumni meet in December is the most prestigious event held in the university every year. It includes high profile bureaucrats, politicians, filmmakers, industry leaders who were once the students of this university attend this meet every year. Their insights will boost your morale.

Admission

The course I opted for is the integrated dual degree program in Economics (B.A + M.A) economics with an exit option after the successful completion of 3 years course. The regular course in the University campus with a lot of free time to pursue your interests. One of the biggest libraries of South Asia, Dr V.S Krishna Library is a great place to hang out.

Faculty

3

The faculty on campus have a rich legacy of stalwarts like V.K.R.V Rao , Sir J.C Coyajee, Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan the then vice chancellor. Many of the faculty are now the advisors to the Andhra Pradesh state, few of them served the planning commission of India too. At present there is an acute scarcity of professors in the university itself as there are no new appointments since 1995. The retired professors visit the campus to serve the needs.

Course Curriculum Overview:

So, honestly, my decision was actually influenced by my mother as she is an ex student and I was not very much interested in joining the college as it did not allow us phones to keep and it was very much of a strange place to me. But as time flew in the campus I was very much enjoying the times spent there with thousands of things to learn about and most importantly I discovered myself there. In today's world, where people are too busy running behind others, this is a perfect place to discover yourself. With academics and the excellent faculty, there are a lot of life lessons learnt here.

The children are eligible for placements from sem 7 onwards. Many MNCs come up for campus placements and good packages are offered. The companies would hire for an annual package of 5 lakhs onwards and it depends on the specialization done. 75% of the students get placements.
