Loyola Chennai, B A Economics

Remarks

Management is strict sometimes the overall campus is good. They could do better in hiring the right kind of staff. Some of the faculty aren't up to the mark. Some of them have so many degrees and post graduate degrees we wonder how they got them. Some of the faculty are really good and world class.

Entrance Preview

I chose the course because I liked economics it is good, the quality of the faculty is not good always but some of them are very good it is very hard for anyone to get admission in the general category unless you have influence.

Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

Some of the major electives are Indian economics, international economics, econometrics, micro economics and macro economics. In addition to this one can elect subjects from other departments like accountancy from the commerce department. There is also a foreign language that everyone has to opt, don't know if this has changed.

Internships Opportunities

Internship was a good learning experience i did two internships. Generally if it is a big company stipends are not offered. Smaller companies offer stipends but it is easy to get an internship because Loyola as a brand has a lot of value among corporates.

Placement Experience

5

Job opportunities are good companies like Delloite ,google, facebook come to campus. Placements are quite good but not everyone gets placed due to lack of mass hiring.

College Events

5

This is the inter collegiate cultural fests held annually national debate competition this is an elite programe which sees participation of colleges such as IIT B, Xaviers etc.

Fee Structure And Facilities

There are two shifts the first shift is aided and hence cheaper. The second shift is more expensive but still reasonable. B.Com first shift works out to about 2000 rs per semester. Second shift for the same course works out to about 15000rs per semester.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are scholarships for underprivileged students and also based on merit each department gives scholarships to the top scorer.

Campus Life

5

Its an boys college except for two courses so campus life is not good but the timings are awesome. The first shift is from 8 am to 1:15 am and the second shift is from 1:30 pm to 6:30 pm so college isn't too long.

Hostel Facilities

4

Hostel is not very good food isn't great either but it is cheap and easily accessible to college. You enjoy all the recreational facilities like gym, sports grounds etc when you stay there.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni events are conducted on a regular basis but hardly anyone goes as the number of alumni is so big that no one thinks it makes sense to go. People meet outside there is an alumni association which keeps in touch with us about events etc that is being hosted.

Exam Structure

Each semester has a semester exam and two internal exams. The semester exams have a weightag eof 50%, the internals have a combined weightage of 35% and an internal project has weightage of 15%.

Faculty

2.5

The quality of the faculty vary some of them are very good and some are very bad so choose subjects according to faculty to make most of the course.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is well-structured and covers both theoretical and practical aspects. It provides a strong foundation for higher studies and career opportunities. Internal assessments and semester exams are conducted regularly, with a fair marking system. More industry exposure, internships, and skill-based training would further enhance students' learning experience.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The department of English not only offers good education but also so many values to lead our life. Faculties were so friendly in clearing students' doubts. There was personality development course to improve students' personality. Students had to choose any other subjects other than they are studying for sbi course. Due to this students learn about other subjects too.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Well the course provides almost everything which is needed and available. This is not a normal economics course as it involves statistics, python, core math and also dives into data science. This allows the students to explore various subjects and can choose which is their best fileld. The curriculum overall is very rigorous and intense but you can crack it if you study regularly. About the frequencies of the examinations, we have 2 internal examinations and 1 end semester examination. I can guarantee that this course is super rigorous but im not sure if i would necessarily say that the course is "practical" and it helps us in the real word. I cannot comment on the practicality of the courses. The exams are not super difficult and its moderate. Getting more than 90% can be challenging although clearing the paper won't be an impossible task.
