Remarks

Very traditional college which has lost its charm and quality in recent times. College management should devise a plan to regain its lost glory

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

It was Okey but not extraordinary. There should be more practical oriented approach so that what we study really helps in our professional life. The curriculum was same across all colleges but what we really require is thorough understanding of basic concepts. Industrial visits were organised but not in its true sense rather it has been a customery visit

Placement Experience

3.5

Placements were Okey, not great. Many of my batch mates got decent offer, not extraordinary placements. Some recruiters grabbed pupils in bulk with normal salary and some recruiters snatched in single digit great packages. Overall placement was Okey not great. TCS recruited in bulk. And Zoho, L and T in minimal numbers. We students have made initiative for preparing. We even contributed from our own for placements.

College Events

3

College Day, Tamil Mandram, Pongal celebrations, Intra and inter college and department symposiums. Culturals and sports day. Pupils are allowed to present their projects and exhibit talents across various clubs and societies approved by the institution.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Very feasible since i studied in a 100 government institution, college as well as hostel fees was very very cheap. I had paid not more than 30000 as a tution years for four years for Mechanical engineering which is very very affordable when compared to private colleges demanding more than 40000 for single year. No additional fees or donation required. During my college days 7 years back, we used to pay in bank attached to college, now online payments have become prevalent

Fees and Financial Aid

No I haven't availed any. But scholorships were there for first graduate and as well as to those who scored high in their 12 th exams

Campus Life

2.5

No robotics labs were there. Usual labs were there like physics, chemistry, English, and various department labs. Quality was not that great. And regarding gender ratio, since our department is a male dominant department, we had 125 boys and single girl in our mechanical department. No ethnical or racial problems whatsoever.

Hostel Facilities

3

Hostel rooms were very very small. Not very hygienic and so congested. Nothing more you can expect in a government engineering college where you pay less than 30000 for all four years put together. Mess food was very very ordinary with no really big healthy items. Mess bill at my time was appromately 1400 per month during 2009-2013

Alumni/Alumna

Yes they were very helpful, particularly in giving contacts of placements and human resource personnel of reputed company

Admission

I had a craze for Mechanical Engineering and placements looked bright for this course. Through Tamilnadu Government Engineering counseling based on merit. I have scored 94.1 percentage with cutoff of 193. So I got selected through merit quota. And hence there is no direct admission to college, rather based on the cutoff, we get good colleges.

Faculty

3.5

We have had very good and experienced faculties, not more than 10, all very knowledgeably intelligent. All above 40 years with post graduation and top 4 with doctorates and remaining on course for doctorate. But curriculum must be devised so that staffs are made responsible in elevating the students professional knowledge in uncompromising way. Their knowledge should have been shared without expecting anything in return. No industry related experiences were there with them.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is relevant and provides a good balance of theoretical knowledge and practical learning. It prepares students for real-world applications, but more industry projects, practical sessions, and updated teaching methods would help. Exams are generally well-spaced and moderately difficult.

Placement Experience:

Placements are generally decent, with students becoming eligible from the final year. Several companies visit for recruitment, offering roles in technical and non-technical fields. Packages vary by company, and placement opportunities depend on skills and performance. Many students secure jobs, while others pursue higher studies or competitive exams.
