Entrance Preview

AIEEE, Rank 19k CSE because of my love for maths. Admission process is straight forward. Apply for college on the website or through an offline process, by giving your AIEEE or 12th exam scores. Counselling will be done for the top ranks/scores in various rounds on campus.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Course curriculum has a mixture of core subjects and a few unnnecessary subjects. A very good spread on the science of computers. Basics of most important programming languages are taught except Python.

Internships Opportunities

Sastra has a tie up with Microsoft and TCS. Apart from this they have a good relationship with PayPal, Amazon etc. Internships at these companies are a part of their placement offers. Stipend ranges from 9k-50k per month depending on the offer. I do not have a good idea about the stipend for the research students.

Fee Structure And Facilities

One of the least expensive in top South indian colleges. Totally feasible. 40k per sem. part from that, there are sport maintenance, hostel, exam fees. And also some unnecessary breakages at times. But not at all expensive.

Fees and Financial Aid

Loan can be availed from any bank and can be renewed depending on academics. Hostel scholarship is given depending on attendance and discipline. Scholarship rewards are given for semester fees for top 10 percentile of the college.

Campus Life

4.5

Gender ratio depends on the department. CSE has a 50-50 ratio, bio groups have 3 boys to 7 girls ratio, Mech has 1 girl to 40 boys ratio. So it is not a consistent figure. Workshops keep happening all the time in some department or the other, College gives extreme steps to restore students safety.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

And around 10-20k for hostel for a whole year. Around 3k per month for the mess. Decent food, not the best (just like any other hostel in other colleges). Quality of the food is not an issue. Only vegetarian and predominantly south indian food.

Exam Structure

Toughest end semester exams when I've made comparisions with my friends. Internal marks weigh a half of the grade and end sem exams, the other half. Tough to get more than 8 consistently.

Faculty

3.5

Mixture of a lot of amazing faculty and a bunch of few fools. CSE has the best and the coolest HOD on campus (Mr. P. Swaminathan if you want to know more about him). Very good labs and free to use own laptops in the labs.

The curriculum is relevant and provides a good balance of theoretical knowledge and practical learning. It prepares students for real-world applications, but more industry projects, practical sessions, and updated teaching methods would help. Exams are generally well-spaced and moderately difficult.

Placement Experience:

Placements are generally decent, with students becoming eligible from the final year. Several companies visit for recruitment, offering roles in technical and non-technical fields. Packages vary by company, and placement opportunities depend on skills and performance. Many students secure jobs, while others pursue higher studies or competitive exams.
