Though, the Maharaja’s college is over 100 years old, sadly not many company come for placement drive and a lot less for Arts courses. However, micro finance companies, BPOs etc do approach from time to time. The monthly package through placement lies in the range of Rs 8000 to 25, 000.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure of B.A. Degree program in Maharaja’s college Mysore is highly affordable and very nominal as compared to the reputation and faculty of the collage. You would be able to obtain an on campus three year B.A. Degree by making a total expense of Rs 23, 150 in three years. The fee is to be paid annually, in three installments of Rs 8790, Rs 7180 and Rs 7180 for 1st, 2nd and 3rd year respectively.

Campus Life

4.5

The college provides good opportunities to indulge in extracurricular activities including sports and culture. The NCC program in the college had started with the University’s corps in 1917. Since 1948, the 1/13 Karnataka Battalion of NCC has been placed in the college and functioning actively. The college also has NSS (National Service Scheme). In 2016 an extracurricular activities forum was inaugurated in the college.

Admission

Anyone who has passed Pre University Course (PUC) from a Karnataka state board or any other board/college recognized by the college is eligible for admission in 1st year Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) course. Applicants are required to obtain application form from college office by paying the required fee. Do remember to enclose the photo copy of the following documents duly attested by a gazetted officer along with your application – marks card of S.S.L.C. and P.U.C. , N.C.C. and other relevant sports certificate, if any; Caste and income certificate; transfer and conduct certificate. At the time of admission, you will be asked to submit the original certificates and keep the attested copies with you. The same will remain with the college till you admission is approved or till the completion of course. Your seat in a particular Bachelor’s Degree course combination depends on the combination you applied for in the application form and also the number of vacancies in that combination. No change of subject combination will be entertained by the college, after submission of the application. College doesn’t send individual letters to selected candidates and the only way to know whether you are in or out is to check the notice board.

Faculty

4

The Maharaja’s college Mysore has a list of acclaimed and talented faculty members. The college also had the honor of having Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan among its faculty members. The faculty and students of Maharaja's college haven't been bystanders and have taken proactive role in the freedom struggle. The faculty is well trained and supportive; not only academically, but also in several other areas of interest.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The BA English curriculum at the Central University of Karnataka is comprehensive and academically relevant. The course covers British Literature, American Literature, Indian Writing in English, Literary Theory, Linguistics, and Cultural Studies, providing students with a strong foundation in language and literature. The interdisciplinary approach under NEP and the availability of electives were among the factors that influenced my decision to choose this course.

Placement Experience:

The university does have a placement team which faculy and student led. Studnets become eligible for placements towards the end of their fourth year - last semeter. Approximately 100-150 NGO's come to campus for recruiting. The university does not promote private firms for placement but students can apply indivitually. The average pay is 20 Lakh per year. Many students after undergraduation opt for higher studies, so is my plan. But most of the master's students opt for placement and 98% - 99% get placed into NGO in top positions. I plan to pursure a masters degree after my undergraduation, preferably in economics.

Course Curriculum Overview:

We get to learn many things not because of just the syllabus and courses but also because of the national and international conferences that are held in our college. People from other colleges come in and share their knowledge with us. This experience is really good for us students. We even have expert lectures from our alumnis who give us advice on what all is required in the world outside college to earn. All these are really helpful.
