Remarks

Like, every college my college also has some good and bad features. But, the best thing is that I feel for the college even after my college life. I dream of being a student again. I don't want to point anything wrong about the management. But, I want them to help students to not only become a good engineer but also a good human being.

Entrance Preview

I got admission to college of engineering chengannur through KEAM (kerala engineering and medical entrance exam) in computer science stream. My rank was 9042.I opted for this college as this was the best college I could get with my rank. Also, I could afford the fees, as I got admission in government quota. The college also had a really good track record on pass percentage and placements.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The college offers Under Graduate programmes in Computer Science & Engineering (CSE), Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE), Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE) and Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering (EIE). The Masters Degree Programmes offered by the college are M. Tech. (Electronics) with specialization in VLSI & Embedded System & M.Tech (Computer Science) with specialization in Image Processing.

Internships Opportunities

No, my college does not provide internship. But, it provides platform to to take internship in different companies.

Placement Experience

4

The Training and Placement Cell, (TPC) of the College of Engineering, Chengannur which is a body of active students, guided by Staff-in-Charge is responsible for all placements in the college. The percentage of placed students had always been on the higher side.In 2015, 140 out of 270 students got placed in different companies.

Fee Structure And Facilities

50% students study in government quota seats. Fee: 20,000 Rs35% students study in management quota seats. Fee 65,000 Rs15% students study in NRI quota seats. Fee 1,25,000 Rs. The fee structure is relatively cheap compared to other private colleges.

Fees and Financial Aid

Scholarship facilities are provided to 5% of total students on merit basis, considering the marks obtained in entrance exams. Scholarships are also provided to SC/ST students economically backward students. I don't have much knowledge about loans provided.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

The college has proper hostel facilities for girls. The college hostel can accommodate almost all the girls. But, for boys only 1 hostel is provided. Most of the boys are staying in private hostels and as paying guests. Each room is shared by 2 members in both college and private hostels. The rent alone in college hostel is 1000 Rs while it is in the range 1500-2500 Rs in private hostels. There is mess facility only for girls. Boys can use college canteen facility upto 5 in the evening.

Alumni/Alumna

To interact with seniors we have a blog page through which seniors share and express their views and opinions.Alumini network is really helpful in recollecting the college days.

Exam Structure

The 4 year long B.tech course is divided into 8 semesters. Each semester includes 2 internal exams and an university exam with atleast 1 lab in each semester. There are two projects to be completed during the course.Mini project (6th semester) Duration 6 months. Main project (7th and 8th semester) Duration 1 year.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is the worst. Teachers rush through the portions so that they can finish at the earliest. It may be because the university has a unjustifiable timetable. There is very little practicals given. The ones that are given are just for namesake.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is under KTU syllubus do it's fine. There is a change in curriculum coming 2024 which i assume would make a lot of good changes. The curriculum gives you a head start For most of your work, you need to on your own but the faculty is there to help. The frequency of exams is weekly tests + monthly exams. Its not too difficult of an exam.

Currently placements are bit low, due to inflation, but compared to other colleges like KMEA, etc we have better placements similar to Muthoot and all. We have placement training, and other supports which can help us crack aptitude exams and prepare for placements Almost 70-80% students are placed every year, with an avg package of 4LPA

Placement Experience:

The students usually start appearing for campus placements in their 6th semester. The training for the campus placements is started for all the students from the 4th semester. Many companies visited for campus placements. But one main problem is that most of them were low packages. Around 4LPA. Some were between 4-6 and a very few between 6-10. Most of them got placed in our batch in some company.
