Remarks

There are very limited art college in india and GCA Chandigarh is 1 of them. I opted for printmaking because I wanted to explore different mediums of expression. The college is well equipped with faculty experienced in their own particular mediums aswell as exploring new mediums. You will get the freedom to build you creativity.

Course Curriculum Overview

Course and syllabus was fairly updated it covered the history and development of art and in practical we practiced different mediums from basic to complex in 4 years. No we were not provided enough industrial exposure. Faculties are well experienced.

Class Size: 15Course Fees: INR 48000 per year

College Events

All the students of the college are aware of each others 30% of our learning was based on senior junior relationship. There are different cultural events during the whole year. One of the main event is Chandigarh carnival in which tableuxs are prepared by teams of students from different batches this event needs participation of at least 80% strength of the college.

Campus Life

We had all kinds of sports facilities and our campus was enabled with fiber optics wifi. The library is one and only library in Chandigarh were you can have a look into any kind of topic in the arts specially visual arts. All the 4 departments have the equipments needed for gaining basic to advance knowledge.

Life in Post graduate government college, chandigarh

Likes

I like the infrastructure of our college, there are lots of garden and food corners
Faculty of the college is really nice and helpful, they teach very well
Student council is very hardworking, they are always ready to help others out

Dislikes

Auditorium of the college is not good, it's in very poor condition
Few classrooms have leakage especially in the rainy season
Girls washrooms are less in comparison to boys washroom

Placement Experience:

There is a placement cell but I do not have much information about it, as my course does not offer any placements, but there are other courses such as BCA, BCom and BSc CS which offers placement, according to me it must be around 30k to 40k per month

Likes

The department has the best teachers,with a holistic approach.
The staff here is so cooperative and understanding.
You get access to a departmental library,with every book and magazine there.

Dislikes

Washroom are not good,there is not cleaning in the washroom

The course curriculum is relevant and you have 4 subjects every semester,with the syllabus in accordance with the UGC,which is available on the department website.You have semester exams,alongwith mid semester tests too.

Likes

The university is well furnished and is available with every kind of necessities for students.
The food in the hostels of pu is affordable and is up to the quality needed
The faculty is very knowledgeable and is very kind and keen. The professors here have bookish knowledge as well as the knowledge of whole world outside.

Dislikes

There are some monkeys around the campus

Placement Experience:

Numerous companies keep collaborating with the university and many students are placed every year. The minimum value of package is 3.5Lpa and it goes up to 12Lpa depending upon the course and the ability of the students My plan after this degree is to clear the net/jrf because i want to be a professor in my respective subject.

Likes

The working of college procedure is very smooth
Campus Life is great with all kinds of facilities and interactive activities
The faculty is highly qualified and experienced

Dislikes

Timmings are a little issue as college starts at 8:30 am

Detailed knowledge of the subject is provided. But it can be said that syllabus is sometimes quite lengthy but the teachers to their best to improvise the best they can and in depth of what they teach.

Likes

Canteen of chemistry department offers great food
Pretty decent hostel facility, food in the hostel is good, location of the hostel is nice
Trees in the campus, fests, student centre

Dislikes

Professors, department, unavailability of professors
Some buildings need repairing, monkeys roam openely
Office management do not listen to your complaints, a lot of paperwork is needed for everything

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is lengthy and monotonous. It is time consuming and the semesters are short. Usually a semesters lasts for not more than 4 months we get very little time to prepare for our exams. Also the syllabus needs to be updated and changed.

A university where dream comes true

Likes

Infrastructure is very good teachers are also very good
Sports facility is also very good there indoor and outdoor both
Hostel facility and mess food is good and there is also groceries shops

Dislikes

Less university transportation facility for the students
Less regularised classes and there is not that much study environment
Hygienic can be little better and more placements

Exams are conducted twicely a year It has divided in two parts .semester end exams There are 2 semesters in one year Each semester has also mid sem exams which helps us to prepare well for the end sem exams

Big class , friendly staff , the college was good at sports
Examinations are sorted out and affiliated with Punjab University
Ncc ,nss and many other extra curricular activities

Bad infrastructure, too many students in such a small faculty
Basketball court conditions are not that good
