Course Curriculum

It's an age-old wonderful university. I want to go and teach there if possible. College management were nice & co-operative. The university needs to be upgraded and maintained well by their alumni.

The material was partially available in the university library. We had to by prescribed text books which were expensive. However most of the professors gave notes during class-room sessions which we noted down and studied for the examinations. Mathematics was quite tough and we had to cope with whatever taught in the class-room and practise. Labs were good fully equipped but wrongly equipped. While most other universities were already into transistor electronics we were still doing our practical experiments with "valves". This needed to change and we made sure my close friend the class topper in the first year who was made academic member put forth this suggestion; that valves and VTVM's must =be replaced with transistors and the syllabus for practicals amended accordingly.

No placements in those days. We had to apply physically to government departments and private companies and attend interviews at their offices. We used to discuss among ourselves where to go "after".

None during my time. There was this university centenary or golden jubilee celebration coming up. We did take part in our farewell and fresher's day functions which went well. I was elected president of the department unanimously. Participation in events was > 90% but events were not many except those discussed above.

The entire two-year M.Sc. course cost me Rs. 10,000 including hostel and mess fees. The curriculum fee was feasible but mess fees was quite high and the food provided was not good. The hostel rooms were small, meant for half the occupants but double the students had to share each room.

My father funded my education and I did not get any scholarship. There was EBC available but I was not eligible. I belong to forward class and hence no community based funds could be availed from government

Male :: female : : 80: 20 There were ethnic groups but we never got into that. But in the final year I was asked to withdraw from the election by another ethnic group & I refused. The other group then withdrew their candidate I was elected DEPARTMENT PRESIDENT unanimously by all the 125+ students.

Yes; The hostel rooms were small, meant for half the occupants but double the students had to share each room. Hostel fee was about Rs. 1500 per year. Rooms were / are good, but need more hostels/rooms for a comfortable stay.

Not much. Seniors were busy working hard and applying for jobs etc. A very old alumni visited with his colleagues and explained and demonstrated "diode as a rectifier" and a few other things which were quite informative etc.

Admission was based on merit for other state quota students. I got on merit from Tamilnadu. Interview -based too to check the merit like marks state of domicile etc. I missed engineering and hence wanted to do a technical course and hence enrolled and then took Electronics as a specialisation the final year.

Most of the lecturers were well experienced in the age group of 45 to 50. They had good knowledge of the subject taught and were available for any assistance for the students. However the speed with which they were teaching was perhaps was faster to cope with.
