Remarks

In the heart of Pandalam town, there is the renowned college established by Nair Service Society in 1950. It is govt.-aided and affiliated to Kerala University, accredited B+ by NAAC as of 2020. Every year, 2500+ students pursue graduation and PG available for 14 courses in arts, sciences, commerce. The centralized allotment process takes place usually in mid-July. Students can apply online. Once the college is allotted, you're required to visit the college with necessary documents and money for admission. The admission procedure is simple and takes only one visit. I preferred this over other colleges because of transportation facilities, as well as the college's qualities that I had read about.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

I chose BSc Physics for the love of the subject and because of its scope. But the curriculum is several decades old and needs reformation. It doesn't make you job-ready. There is no shortage of faculties in N. S. S. College, one could say that there are more faculties than needed, which is a good thing. All the professors are well-qualified. Of these, some are dedicated and passionate towards teaching, while others are just slackers who teach just to receive their salaries. According to the class time table, there are 5 periods of one hour each on a weekday. There aren't projectors in every class. They teach in the traditional chalk-and-blackboard method. During quarantine, they teach via Google meet and Google Classroom in irregular sessions. Internal exams are considerably easy, but the semester examination, conducted by the university was quite tough and the valuation was not liberal. That's not the college's fault, it's because of the university.

Placement Experience

2.5

There aren't any campus placements to my knowledge. After completing graduation, I am looking forward to pursuing post-graduation.

Fees and Financial Aid

At the time of admission, I had to pay a sum of about Rs. 6000 for various things including admission fee and 2 sets of uniforms. Then you only have to pay a small amount of Rs. 1000 for each year. That's for the General category. There are exemptions for reserved categories. I don't have any scholarship for financial assistance but my peers do. Most of them have a Govt. of Kerala scholarship called "e-grantz" which pays the full amount of their fees.

Campus Life

4.5

The campus life is the best aspect of this college. There are various clubs, fests and extra-curricular activities which help mould oneself into a stronger, better human being. The year 2020's fest was named 'Kannaki 2k20' in and we had a blast. There were celebrities and all kinds of unbiased competitions. Apart from this, there are other fests like Film fest (which showed the latest Oscar-winning movies like Joker and Parasite) in March. There were Kabbadi and Volleyball competitions, earlier this year, which all the students watched and cheered. There is a huge playground in front of the college. The clubs are plenty: Film Club, Debate Club, Civil Service Club, and Literature Club to name a few. Students' political parties like ABVP and SFI are prevalent in the campus.

Other Applied Colleges

Catholicate College, Pathanamthitta | Physics

I didn'the get my first-choice course, Physics. I got Chemistry instead. Also, I heard that this college shows partiality to Christians.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is the worst. Teachers rush through the portions so that they can finish at the earliest. It may be because the university has a unjustifiable timetable. There is very little practicals given. The ones that are given are just for namesake.

Placement are not the best. But EY , federal bank, TCS are some the prominent companies that are coming. The negative thing about placement is most of them are offering marking jobs. So if you are someone who is interested in operations this is not the collage you want to in.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is under KTU syllubus do it's fine. There is a change in curriculum coming 2024 which i assume would make a lot of good changes. The curriculum gives you a head start For most of your work, you need to on your own but the faculty is there to help. The frequency of exams is weekly tests + monthly exams. Its not too difficult of an exam.

Currently placements are bit low, due to inflation, but compared to other colleges like KMEA, etc we have better placements similar to Muthoot and all. We have placement training, and other supports which can help us crack aptitude exams and prepare for placements Almost 70-80% students are placed every year, with an avg package of 4LPA

Placement Experience:

The students usually start appearing for campus placements in their 6th semester. The training for the campus placements is started for all the students from the 4th semester. Many companies visited for campus placements. But one main problem is that most of them were low packages. Around 4LPA. Some were between 4-6 and a very few between 6-10. Most of them got placed in our batch in some company.
