Remarks
Since class 11, I was quite sure of doing my bachelor's in Petroleum Engineering. So my main focus was to look out for colleges having Petroleum in its curriculum. After some research, I got to know about Chandigarh University and found out that the fees for Petroleum Engineering are quite less as compared to other colleges. Then I decided to visit the University and was actually satisfied with the looks. The staff was decent and they gave a full tour to the university, even the hostels too. The admission process was simple not much hectic as it is a private university. You just submit the original documents and pay the token or the full fees in one go and off you go.
Course Curriculum Overview
It was pre-decided that I would pursue my graduation in Petroleum Engineering, so I didn't have to go through all sorts of courses to figure what to choose and what not to choose. There were approx 60 students in our class and the Petroleum branch in CU usually has only one section. The faculty was good and very cooperative. They were always helpful and understanding. No pressure what so ever. Some of the teachers are doctorates in their respective fields. Some are retired from core companies with good teaching skills and experience. The exams were strictly conducted on time every semester with a moderate difficulty level. Any student having a basic knowledge of the subjects and a little bit of interest would find no difficulty in passing the exams.
Internships Opportunities
Yes, they manage to provide internships to the students and many are paid stipends too. There is 'n' number of companies that visit the campus every year.
Placement Experience
Students from the second last semester become eligible for the campus placements. CU provides a record number of campus placements while some students even get the highest packages. Quite a large number of companies visit the campus and a number of students even get 2-3 placements by the end of the year.
Fees and Financial Aid
They started conducting the CUCET admission cum scholarship test and are offering good scholarships to eligible candidates. There're even chances of getting a 100% scholarship on academic fees if candidates score 90-95+ marks in the test. A few of my mates got placed with a decent salary. Some even joined the company before final examinations.
Campus Life
The campus life is really fun, with regular fests and tech events going on. Many Bollywood celebrities and Punjabi music and film Industry celebs visit the University on a regular basis. Sports events are also organized regularly. If you are a bright athlete then the university takes care of your academic fees and even hostel accomodation in my knowledge. The libraries are very good. Books are easily available.
Hostel Facilities
The hostels are clean and hygienic. The food is decent and you get a variety the whole week. Hostel wardens are educated and well-behaving and very cooperative too. There are a number of hostels and which one you get is purely a luck factor. But all in all, You'll love the hostel and campus life at Chandigarh University.
