Course Curriculum Overview

The course curriculum is well structured. The college department focuses a lot on research and the course structure has a focus on research. Exams are held at the end of semester and projects and assessments are also given to the students.

Placement Experience

The university offers good placements to the students. A few companies with the campus for recruitment and provide decent salary packages. there are also internships provided to the students and good stipend are provided to them.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees for the course is very feasible. I have to pay about 7000 rupees each year as a tuition fees and there are some other charges for maintainence and the fees for application form is also very low.

Campus Life

The college organising a lot of seminars and workshops for the students in various fields. There are a lot of competitions in which student can showcase their talents and there are clubs which you can join.

Hostel Facilities

I have opted for the hostel in the campus. The hostel infrastructure is average but all the facilities are still provided. The food in the mess is clean and tasty. The rent for the hostel is not much for the amenities provided.

Admission

The University offers the MA course is merit based. If you have got good marks in your bachelors then you can easily get your name if not in the first then in the second cutoff list. You have to fill the application form online or offline first

The faculty University is highly qualified and well experienced. They are very kind and supportive and guide their students with their experience in their field so that they can do better in their life.

I would rate in quite highly in terms of both relevant and competative the subjects are well aligned and current industry standards and current needs it includes both theoretical need and both practical need at the same time..

Gauhati University: A Students perspective.

Likes

The networking and the contacts that GU provides.
Exposure to various aspects. Chance of self discovery
Great environment. Loved the campus. A great place to study also the Library and canteens. Connectivity

Dislikes

Too much pressure on students in certain cases.
Very slow processing of documents by the authorities
Very delayed results of all the semester.

Course Curriculum Overview:

This is an integrated course where i will be getting a masters degree after completing 5 years. Only tezpur university provides this course other than GU. The curriculum prepares students mainly to pursue careers in academic fields and research fields. More practical aspects can be added to provide a holistic knowledge to the students. The exams are very well planed.

Likes

I like the infrastructure of our college.
Our college have enough rooms and halls to accommodate huge number of students
Digitalisation in teaching methods in all classrooms.

Dislikes

Toilet is still not clean as promised by our GS.
Lack of equipments in practical laboratories.
Cleanliness and hygiene are a bit off track.

I choose this course i.e. department of Botany because the department ensuring a strong theoretical foundations along with the practical experience. The course prepares well for students as the acedemic results is always good which will make gratutides well equipped for jobs. Some sections of the course should be updated to meet the latest technology, more guests lectures and the interships should be provided to the students. The exams clustering of multiple exams should be within times which relases unneccsary stress, the exams are conducted easy to insane which is very challenging for the students.

Our department (botany) has well experienced and knowledgeable professor's who guided us both practically and theruotically which help us to gain knowledge at a faster rate
The most important thing is that our department always go for practical experience i.e.through trip.
The department often conducts seminars and guest lecturers

Dislikes

As a student of Aryavidyadpeeth college, it is very difficult to be part of our college,as the department is very popular
Due to high popularity, the college campus is very crowded, which sometimes leads to overcrowding
There is a very limited seats in hostel, the outstation students faces many difficulties to stay nearby the college.

My thoughts about my college

Likes

Faculty members of our college is very good
The thing i like that teacher in our college use projector to teach us
In our college, the students get to join various seminars, which college authorities provide us with time to time

Dislikes

The main thing which i disliked about our college is that our college campus is small if you compare it with other colleges
In our college we dont have clean toilets, and the toilets smells very bad
The next thing is that there were various construction going on in our college so for now thr college environment is healthy enough for a student to perform

As i want to appear for civil services examinations in future, so for me political science subject is helpful for my future career, in our department out faculty trach us in a decent manners, but there are some improvements needed with time

Friendly environment with a good teaching faculty.
Effective adminstration and management faculty.

Campus area too small along with improper sanitation facilities

Scholarly help and studying materials related to the course are provided by the college however the result are mostly based on self studying due to inefficient management by faculties. The college lacks proper workshops and programs to prepare the students for real world circumstances.

All the faculty are very learned and helpful. They make an effort and are very invested in our progress
The infrastructure is very modern with multiple laboratories and conference halls. Construction work is going on for increasing the campus area and buildings
Apart from departmental libraries, the college boasts a central library with a large collection of books, articles and journals

Dislikes

Need for a separate parking area for students
Canteen and cafeteria space should be increased
Seat capacity should be increased in the common room

The requirements for 1st semester students is to choose 7 subjects. Core subject, Minor subject, SEC (skill enhancement course), IDC (inter disciplinary course), AEC (ability enhancement course) and two compulsory VAC (value added courses) of EVS and AIS (ancient Indian studies)

I liked the overall environment of our college
My department (Geography) Faculty members are very good.
The teachers not only help in academics but also guide us for our better well-being.

Dislikes

Construction is going on in the college campus.
Though it has gain the autonomous tag still didn't get any such benefit.
The toilets are very unhygienic and have very bad odour.

Our course is very easy to understand anyone who is new to this branch or doesn't have any idea about geography can easily understand the topics through the guidance of our faculty members. They provide extra classes for better understanding of the students.

Faculty members are very helpful. They provide you with needful things.
During my PG dissertation course my mentor helped me a lot. While completing my thesis.

Dislikes

They were quite very serious about the attendance. They were not negligible towards it.
As like other departments there were favouritism which was not performed by every teacher but some among them.
Faculty was serious about cheating and does take hard steps.

They were efficient for our future. The course included creative writing, Aranslation studies, American studies, Feminist texts, British literature, Indian literature, Post colonialism and others. They helped in development of language and skills.
