Entrance Preview

I took AIEEE exam and scored 140 marks(58000 all india rank) but now admission is based on rank in JEE mains followed by counselling. I opted for guru nanak dev university because it is:-1- ugc recognised2- accredited by naac3- good placement record4- experienced and qualified faculty.

Internships Opportunities

No, the college doesn't provide it's own internship. The student has to apply himself/herself for internship in other private/public sectors. Very few or no companies/company offers internship here. The students prefer online websites such as internshala, linkedin etc to get an internship.

Placement Experience

5

Department of placements & training of guru nanak dev university looks after the interests of the students and the recruiting organisations by acting as channel of communication between them.Various placement committees have been constituted for the placement of all the professional courses of the university.Various companies and the package offered tcs - 3.25 lacsnagarro 4lacscapgemini 3.40 lacscsc 3 lacsamdocs 4.30 lacsjohn deree 4.40 lacscompass 4 lacstech mahindra 3 lacscode brews 4 lacsinfogain 4 lacsand many more.

5

There are huge number of events that occur continuously throughout the year that make this institute more enjoyable and fun.Technical( organised by the tss and cess) tech fest, coding events( code cess, national network security championship workshop, code overnight etc)cultural youth fest, jashan (annual festival), inter zonal youth fest(fest receiving participants from the entire state of punjab).

Fee Structure And Facilities

Total fees - 387600 fees per semester - 42000 hostel fees per year - 18000 eah it is feasible. If for someone this seems expensive then he/she may get scholarship from the various university schemes so that it may not be felt as a burden to the students.

Fees and Financial Aid

Yes, the university provides both scholarship and loan facilities to the students. The students offer upto 100% scholarship to the poor students (below poverty line/ or one whose family income is below 2lacs per year). A student of any category (general, sc, st, obc etc) can avail this scholarship.

Campus Life

5

Campus life is full of fun and recreation, the university is full of opportunities whether be in sports, fun events, technical events, social involvements through the nss, extra-curricular through the ncc, youth fests etc.In our department the gender ratio is 50:50 that is accurate gender equality. The first and sophomore year students enjoy freshers party while the final and pre-final enjoy the farewell party. Apart from this, there is a party in the annual tech fest where famous singers are invited to rock and roll along with the dj.Various seminars are conducted on a monthly basis about advanced technology and development. all the seminars are hosted by the placements department. There is no racial, sexual or economic inequality present in the university. Everyone treats everyone else equally irrespective of the religious, gender, economic differences.

Hostel Facilities

4

There are separate hostel for boys and girls, three for girls and two for boys. Each hostel is equipped with fully furnished rooms, dining halls, reading room and 24 hours internet facility. The mess food is okay but sometimes pretty bad and when it's bad

Alumni/Alumna

The most important advantage of residing in the hostels is the interaction with the seniors. we keep on discussing about projects that we have been working on from our seniors and also about the projects that they wrote few years back. This interaction is quite helpful and seniors give their full support and encouragement. They share their experiences so that we not make the same mistakes.Even after they passout, we still remain connected and they also help us in getting placed in a company that is most suitable for us.

Exam Structure

There are two minor examinations (20 marks each),one quiz(10 marks)and then a major examination of 50 marks. The practicals constitute about 50 % marks of the subject. Occurrence of labs is around 3-4 labs in a week, so it remains interesting to the stude

Placement Experience:

Students generally become eligible for placement from 7th semester, with numerous major companies like wipro, cognizant and various tech startups visit the campus with various offers. The university sees a high percentage of students getting placed. The package are widely depending on various skill and codes. Furthermore while the highest package looks impressive on paper, the avg package remains modest for the majority of the batch. My personal plans after getting the degree focus on exploring independent entrepreneurial ventures rather than tradition corporate placement.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
