Remarks

The entire concept of management study was very well thought and structured. The course curriculum, case studies, group assignments, presentations.DOCC (Project with NGOs) helped in all round development of every candidate.

Entrance Preview

CAT - 98.5 percentile, I had keen interest in finance and with B.Com (H) degree in the undergrade college, MBA in Finance was the logical career extension. SPJIMR is the top 10 B-Schools in the country with great faculty, good placements and hence I chose to do MBA Finance from SPJIMR.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

The course structure was very well planned with emphasis on case studies for better understanding of concepts. Group assignments helped in developing team work and people management skills. First year was common with equal emphasis to learn all the management subjects such as Finance, Marketing, Operations, IT, Stats, Organisation Behavior etc for basic understanding of all the important aspect of any business. Second year was focused on the sector you want to specialize with electives to substantiate your learning in a particular field. Project in the social sector helped us understand the managerial skill sets required and was an integral part of the curriculum.

Placement Experience

5

The placement provided by the institute is very good with great job opportunities. Students had option to choose from multiple job offers. The entire batch was placed on 1st day of placement itself. We had companies from diverse sectors, consulting, financial services (Banks and Investment Bank, Research Firms), FMCG, Pharma, Media, IT sector etc. Some of the marquee names were Standard Chartered Bank, HSBC, Citi Bank, Enam, P&G, HUL, Accenture, Mckinsey, CTS, E&Y, HCL, Microsoft, Castrol etc, Minimum offer was INR 10 lakhs CTC with highest offer being close to INR 25 lakhs.

College Events

4.5

Our college had various events managed by different societies, such as equity research competition, management enclave, operations event etc. We also had an inter B-School sports meet. Some of the events are for all the B-Schools, whereas some are for the corporate world.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure was nominal when compared with the facilities provided and placements on offer. The 2 year course fee was INR 3.5 lakhs which included hostel accommodation, books and study materials. The only other expense was food and personal expenses. Food was also subsidized by the college. The payback period worked out to less than 1 year which was really nominal.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college did not provide any scholarship or loan facility. The students can avail education loan which was easily available given SPJIMR was among the top 10 B-Schools in the country with good placement track record.

Campus Life

4.5

Campus life was very exciting with lot of hard work and fun parties. Gender ratio was very good with Boys:Girls ratio at 2:1, College life started with ice breaking trip to Lonavala wherein all the students got to know each other which helped everyone to have a great 2 year in the college. There was no distinction made on caste, creed, sex, religion etc.

Hostel Facilities

4

The hostel and accommodation facility was really good. Neat hostel premises within the campus, the mess food was decent. The hostel also had night canteen which was the lifeline during long nights while studying or doing group assignments. The hostel accommodation was part of the course fee and hence very nominal.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni network is strong with alumni working in the top MNC and Domestic companies. Interaction with senior / alumni was very fruitful as everyone is very helpful to share their knowledge, experience and insight which helped a lot in making career choices, preparation for interviews etc.

Exam Structure

We had three semesters every year with different credits for each course. Each course had final exams, quizes, group assignments, presentations, class participation etc.The entire structure was to help us experience the real corporate world scenario with some days being very hectic and others more relaxed.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty was a great mix of experienced teachers, researchers, professionals and guest lecturers from the industry. Faculty had deep knowledge and understanding of the subject they taught with adequate industry experience so as to provide case studies, live examples to substantiate their points. Guest lecturers from the industry help understand the concepts from practical perspective which is more relevant then theoretical knowledge.

Placement Experience:

The placements depend upon which Specialization you're in. If you're a marketing student there will be lots of good companies coming in for placements followed by finance and then HR. You become eligible for placement from 3rd semester. Companies such as Deloitte, PWC, TCS, HCL, etc. visit the campus for placements and offer a good amount of Packages.

College management is not that good, which I felt is need to be improved. making everything student centric makes it difficult for students as well as college to be organised.

We learned a lot from the curriculum and the college itself. My journey was a mixed bag of feelings with many sweet and sour moments. The classroom sessions were fun and so were the field visits and management activities like webinars or mock marketing competitions.

College is almost good .this for those who want only masters but no placement .if you also want to get placed in any company need only degree ur welcome. The management is worst the nonteaching staff doesn't know how to talk with students especially the admission office. I here declare whatever I have seen and suffered I presented my view about this college to you, not it's your choice to go to heaven like symbiosis or choose hell. I was misguided and helpless so I came here means I got fewer marks in a snap so please students appear for snap sincerely.

The university gives you a great exposure to shape up your life for a great future. There's absolutely no racism and everyone is treated equally. This is the only institute in pune where girls and boys are found in almost equal numbers. In fact girls are encouraged to become entrepreneurs.
