Remarks

I applied to two colleges in 2019 which were Chitkara University and Chandigarh University. But I got admission to Chandigarh University because Chitkara Uni needed an appearance in JEE mains which I did not have, but Chandigarh University did not have that criterion for getting enrolled in any engineering courses. The admission fee taken by Chandigarh university is ten thousand rupees and right after this fee, I got enrolled in Mechatronics engineering. There is such a requirement of getting minimum marks as when I took admission in 2019, but you have to at least pass 10th and 12th grade and the age should be a minimum of 18 years old. The admission process is really easy after you deposit the admission fee to the college, also counselling day just explained more about the college map and other courses that were being offered.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

First of all, I choose mechatronics engineering as looking into the future technologies are going to be really advanced which will require mechatronics engineers to understand that concept and start to work with AI companies like Tesla, Microsoft or others. The faculty is less in number than the students, but it is perfect for giving us knowledge and education about our subjects. The professors are well prepared every time the lecture takes place and also their qualification is very good as all of the faculty is either a graduate and some have even pursued or pursuing further study into their respective field of study. We usually have two midterm exams which are 30 marks each for both theory and practicals, then we have a final exam which is 60 marks for both theory and practical. You had to study for at least 2 weeks before these exams to pass them and get an average score in them all.

Internships Opportunities

3

Chandigarh University is having a lot of internships that give out stipends for working with them, some of them can be the local factories which is Kitty Bread, or even some industry related to our mechatronics course which will invite you to work with them, they will give you training with internship which will be stipend based and also it will be for a shorter duration of time. But till now, I am in my 5th semester, no internships have been given to us, but they tell us about any courses which are certified and give out free certificates after you complete them. I have been working on internships which is related to digital marketing right now and I did not get that assigned from the college itself, but I did it on my own.

Placement Experience

3.5

Campus placements for this University are far better for the students who score good CGPA which is over 7.5 and also have great knowledge about the specified course they are in. Right after the 7th semester, the student will become eligible to get placed in the companies which come to your colleges during the placements week. Some examples for companies will be Google, Microsoft, Amazon, IBM, HP, Hitachi, TAFE, SAP Labs, Hyatt, The Taj, Oberoi, Mindtree, and many other companies related to the IT industry. All in total will be 90% of the students are getting into the placements and out of those 70% are getting into the internship programs. I am planning to do M.Tech or doing some degree that will be related to engineering or my current course in college.

Fees and Financial Aid

The cost to study in the Mechatronics engineering course will be eighty thousand rupees per semester and the fees for the hostel and transportation is different from the course fee which is about one lakh and fifty thousand rupees including mess fees for one year. Whether you give the scholarship exam or CUCET from Chandigarh University, then you can get up to 100 percent off on the semester fees and if your get any percent off from the semester fees, it will apply to the coming semester fees if you keep your CGPA and SGPA over 7.5 each semester. Also for financial aid or assistance, it is provided online nowadays, as you can search it up on Google. I never got or looked up a job around campus, but I am sure that you could either become an assistant for your professor or a brand ambassador for this college as this was mentioned by my seniors in the same course as me.

Campus Life

4

Life at University is very happening as every day there is something new which is available to see like live performances, international students exchange programs, concerts by famous actors or singers and much more. Every year they conduct a CU-FEST which is a fun festival for every student studying at CU and it is a very big festival that is about 3 days long and also the whole campus which is about 200 acres is covered in fest vibes. Tech fest is also conducted every year in the month of November or sometimes in March. Books of all types are available for only the students of CU and they should have a library card for issuing any book for the library, also you can photocopy those books as they have a photocopier in there. Classrooms will have good benches and chairs, also it will have only fans and no ACs, only ACs are available in lab classes or in hall classrooms, and all classes have projectors available.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
