Remarks
Good aspects: Good placement opportunities for BTEC computer science. Had specialization courses like AI, ML. Great campus, food is good, great decorum and discipline of campus. Lots of events and opportunities both formal and informal. Bad aspect- lack of System Management. Not so specialized teachers in every branch. Admission was direct based on my CBSE score. Was also given a 20% scholarship. The reason to choose this college was good placement opportunities and Chandigarh is a great place to live in. Basically, after getting rejection in IITs and NITs, I thought it is a good private university. Gladly it came out good for me.
Course Curriculum Overview
B.tech computer science with mobile computing as a specialization because I wanted to learn about computers and explore mobile computing simultaneously with a bit of machine learning and coding. There are around 2000 students in b.tech computer science alone and every class has 60-70 students. Faculties mostly are Mtech and some are PhDs. The teaching method is mostly through PPTs and specific in mathematics it's on board with proper explanation and exercises. The exam is divided into 2 parts- internal 40 marks taken in 2 parts mst1 and mst2 which are easy to pass. Just 1 hr exam. And it also includes internal assignments, attendance marks, class performances, etc. The Final is an external exam which is 60 marks. It is also moderate according to the exam pattern. Students can easily pass.
Placement Experience
3rd-year end you can sit for placement. Around 300 companies have come. And all 2000 students are placed. Good companies include Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Nokia, VMware, Adobe, nutanix, many many more. 95% gets placed by the start of the 4th year. I am planning to continue on my company Nokia.
Fees and Financial Aid
My fees were 78,000 academic and 80,000 for hostel if I remember. But I got a 20% scholarship for my CBSE marks. Also, there are various types of scholarships given like I also got a sibling scholarship since my sister was also studying in BBA. Punjab residents also get scholarships. They also give scholarships based on JEE scores. I got the job in Nokia Bangalore with 25,000 stipends in intership and package is 6lpa. Good companies come here atleast for BTech I can vouch.
Campus Life
There are a plethora of events. For every debt you have events. For college-level like literature, they call famous poets and Bollywood celebrities for Tashan nights. Sunburn also came once. Believe me for events and promotions this university has many contacts. Actors like Prabhas, Katrina kaif, Akshay, Kiara, and many more have come. Punjabi singers come to sing in Tashan nights held after every sem. And followed by Education minister also came once. Every dept has its own Library with computers. But University also has central lib. The classroom is big, spacious, and well ventilated, and had smart screens for PPTs. Labs also have computers. Sport is a forte for CU students since they have whole different buildings for sports and training. They have given students into the commonwealth and many have become national-level players. They also take students from the sports quota.
Hostel Facilities
4 seater room with cooler and fans. AC hostels are also available. The meal is just like you have in langar in gurudwara. Different scheduled menus. They also change according to students' requests. The hostel also has tuck shops for essentials and emergency food in case students don't like mess food. It has gyms and trainers are available. It has a nurse and a sick room. Also a common tv room. They assign the hostel based on your branch to keep you with the same branch students. So that it is easy to avail bus inside the campus for reaching your dept everyday. The campus is really large. You can't cover just by walking. You can change your hostel in case you are not comfortable. Also, in the case of roommates. Wardens are cordial.
