Remarks

The admission process was quite simple. On the day of counselling based on your rank, you will be provided college. Suppose your rank is above 5000 you may have been called for counselling on day 2. Now there is the opportunity of selecting another college. I particularly followed this college since what I have heard from my seniors who used to study in this college is that here placement facilities were really outstanding .plus since I am from the outskirts of Kolkata I could reside anywhere in Khiddderpore where this college is situated. In simple terms, the location of this college is really good. The quite easy transport is also available here. To get CSE over here your rank should be above 6k. In my time anyone below 6k didn't get an opportunity to study over here.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

See during my time there was a boom to study in the Computer Science stream. From childhood, I had a dream to study computer as a subject. I was fond of doing technical things involving computers. So this was my first option. There was 1 teacher per 60 students. In our stream, a total of 10 teachers were there teaching various materials like artificial intelligence, c, c++, DBMS and others. The teachers were well qualified to teach these subjects and quite friendly too. I must say there were two internal exams before each semester and there were two sem exams like being called odd and even. According to my, the internal exams were too easy but the semester exams were of moderate to a high level. However, if you are good at your studies you will have no problem.

Internships Opportunities

5

I had got chance to work with It companies where I learner a lot to enhance my it skills. Some got the opportunity to do an internship in Infosys only but it was limited to those who got a job in Infy. However, others did an internship in Indian Railways, some did in Tata Teleservices, some did in Tata Steel and others. Max didn't provide a stipend. However, the knowledge we got over here was really worthy. We were given various tasks to do. In it works, you will be given a project to do may be to develop a hotel software where you need to design a database to store names of customers who would be visiting your hotel, no of rooms to select, type of rooms, the payment gateway to design also. You needed to design a good UI too. All these tasks were quite challenging. Plus at the end of the internship, you needed to provide a PowerPoint presentation along with a hard copy of what you have done during this tenure.

Placement Experience

4.5

Students who are in 4th i.e the final year are eligible for campus placements. As I have previously said our college had good campus placements. It was one of the reasons why I chose this college over others. In our time also the college had 88% placement facilities. Various companies like Odessa technologies, Cognizant Technology Solutions, Infosys came during our time. Cognizant was our principal Recruiter. Many students landed up with double jobs. Cse secured the maximum placements. Others got a job in ITC Infotech, Vodafone etc. The highest package offered was 6 lakhs per annum and the minimum package offered was 4 lakhs per annum. The average package offered was around 4.5 lakhs per annum. The highest package was being offered by Cognizant. After college, I wanted to pursue higher studies hopefully MBA.

Fees and Financial Aid

For the first year, you need to pay around 70k but normally the cost was around 40k per sem. We were in fact provided a laptop which was also included with our college fees. From the 3rd year, we needed to pay 41k per semester and 42k from the 4th year onwards per sem. The cost according to me is moderate since if you are studying in a private college, you need to pay more. If you are from the minority quota, you will be getting a scholarship which will include some discount on your tuition fees. Otherwise, if you are from a poor income family, you will be getting around 20% off on tuition fees only. Other lab fees you will need to pay like other students. Apart from this, if you are a topper, you will be getting a 10% off if you are not getting a scholarship from any other source. I got the job from it firm named Odessa which gave me a handsome salary. Plus I took an internship in its firm which also helped me to develop my it skills.

Campus Life

4.5

The annual tech fest was Srey where we enjoyed a lot, participated in Sudoku, Impromptu, Maths quiz and others. Apart from that, there was a Cultural fest every year where students from our college only participated. There was no participation from any other college. You will happen to enjoy the college life over here except for the strict discipline and uniform. There were plenty of study books available in the library. So for study-related books, you didn't need to go anywhere. In fact, the library was big where you can also study with your laptops .infact there was scope to do project work too. The classrooms were big with desks and chairs for everybody. They were quite clean and hygienic too. Annual sports was also held every year plus you can take part in inter-school cricket, football, badminton, carrom etc. We had a games room also plus a canteen.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is the worst. Teachers rush through the portions so that they can finish at the earliest. It may be because the university has a unjustifiable timetable. There is very little practicals given. The ones that are given are just for namesake.

Course curriculum is under KTU syllubus do it's fine. There is a change in curriculum coming 2024 which i assume would make a lot of good changes. The curriculum gives you a head start For most of your work, you need to on your own but the faculty is there to help. The frequency of exams is weekly tests + monthly exams. Its not too difficult of an exam.

Currently placements are bit low, due to inflation, but compared to other colleges like KMEA, etc we have better placements similar to Muthoot and all. We have placement training, and other supports which can help us crack aptitude exams and prepare for placements Almost 70-80% students are placed every year, with an avg package of 4LPA

The students usually start appearing for campus placements in their 6th semester. The training for the campus placements is started for all the students from the 4th semester. Many companies visited for campus placements. But one main problem is that most of them were low packages. Around 4LPA. Some were between 4-6 and a very few between 6-10. Most of them got placed in our batch in some company.
