PSIT College Overview

I did not apply for any other college as PSIT was the best choice in Kanpur. PSIT takes admission through UPSEE counseling and also through direct admission. I took direct admission to the college. The criterion for admission is a minimum of 60% in class 12th, then an entrance exam is conducted and then a personal interview is taken. Based on their result, you are offered the branches. The admission process was simple and the management was very helpful.

I chose Mechanical Engineering as it was my field of interest. There is quite a good number of faculties. The ratio of faculty to students is also very good. The faculty here is very experienced and highly qualified mostly from the top institutes of India. They are really helping. Terms exams like Class Test and Assignments are conducted every month. They were a bit difficult. Students must work hard in order to pass them.

Students from the 6th semester are eligible for the in campus placements. Many companies recruit students from here including big IT companies like Infosys, Capgemini, TCS, Wipro, Reliance, etc. The highest package offered is around 12 LPA and the average package is around 3.5 LPA. About 60 percent of students get placed here. My plan is to pursue higher education after completing B.Tech.

The fees are a bit high in comparison to other colleges of AKTU. The fees for the 2020-21 session for the first-year student for CS/IT is around Rs. 1.7 lakhs yearly while for the other branches it is around Rs. 1.4 lakhs yearly. The college does not provide any scholarships or Financial Aid for the students. UP Government scholarship program is applicable here.

The annual fest that is organized at PSIT is IGNITIA, it is a two days event in which many small events take place. There are many tech events like hackathons and quizzes that also take place throughout the year. Books are available for all the students from the central library. Classrooms are very large and centrally air-conditioned with projectors equipped in each of them. Sports facilities, Gym, and NCC are also available for the hostlers.

For the admission, I gave a written test in which Maths, English, General Aptitude, and Coding Questions were asked. The level of questions can be considered easy. After the test, my Personal Interview was taken, and asked questions about my career choice. The criterion for selection is confidential to the college.
