Unbiased review of NIST, Berhampur

The admission process is quite easy and simple. All the admission incharges guide you through the process. There is no age limit for admission in NIST, Berhampur. The college takes admission on the basis of three parameters 1) JEE Main, 2) OJEE, 3) Class 12th percentage. One should be having a minimum of 60% to be eligible to take admission to this college. For the admission process firstly you will be asked to make a demand draft or bank deposit of 20000 Rs to the college account after you will be alloted NIST, Berhampur in the OJEE counselling portal. Then you will be addressed by college admission incharges for further processes and payments.

The course curriculum especially for B.Tech is quite the same as all other private colleges in Odisha which are affiliated with BPUT (Biju Patnaik University Of Technology). The college is Autonomous but still follows the old BPUT course curriculum. You will be having 5 subjects per semester in the 1st Year. The faculties in this college are a mixture of extremely well qualified P.hd holders from IITs, NITs, BIT Mesra etc. to some that only knows brief about their subjects. For every 15 students, there is one teacher present. There will be 2 exams per semester, one Mid Semester, One End Semester, a total of 2 Quiz test. 2 Lab tests and 2 surprise tests per subject. It is easy to score an 8 pointer (CGPA) if you concentrate in class and assignments.

The internship opportunities in this college are quite good. Various companies such as Infosys, Wipro, TCS, Cognizant provides internship opportunities to 3rd and 4th-year students for the role of Software Developer, Data Engineer, UI/UX Developer, Web Developer etc. One should be very profound in coding and development in order to grab an internship opportunity.

Students become eligible for the placements from the 7th semester onwards. Various companies visit our college such as Infosys, TCS, TCS Ninja, Wipro, DXC Technologies, Cognizant, Capgemini, Flipkart, L&T Technologies etc. The average package ranges between 3.5 to 4.5 lacs and the highest package offered in 2019 was 18 LPA given by Western Digital to ECE branch students. The percentage of students getting placed is around 80% before the Covid-19 pandemic.

The college fee of NIST, Berhampur is quite reasonable when compared to all the private colleges in Bhubhaneshwar. The fees structure is as follows for the 2021 batch:- Tuition Fees- 1,21,000/- per year, Hostel Fees- 20000/- per year, Mess Fees- 3000/- per month, Extra Expenses- 10000/- per year. The college provides various scholarship such as:- Sibling Scholarship, Odisha candidate scholarship, Scholarship based on Boards percentage, Scholarship for EWS candidates and other reserved categories.

The college organises various fests like SANKALP (Annual Tech Fest) and various other fests. The campus is spread across 70 Acres which is quite good for an Engineering college. The college consists of all the important buildings for different branches such as LHC, GALLERIA, ATRIUM, TIFAC which is the main highlight of this college and only 5 in the entire INDIA are present. The college has a fully air-conditioned library with all the journals and books. You will get a plethora of options for sports and extra co-curricular opportunities such as cricket, volleyball, basketball, football etc. The college also has all the clubs for co-curricular activities such as coding, singing, dancing, arts and dramatics, photography etc.

There are 2 very big hostels inside the NIST campus. Each having 6 floors. In the first year, you will be alloted a room for 5 peoples. The rooms are spacious with windows and a combined balcony. You can change your room as per your liking. There are also options for a single room and AC rooms. The mess food quality is very average as every college. You will be getting NON- Veg as well as the Veg menu. You will be getting snacks in the evening which is quite good considering the process of 3000 Rs per month.
