Remarks

After my intermediate, I applied for a B-tech course in many colleges like VIT, SRM, Chandigarh University, etc. As I hadn't secured a good rank in JEE, that's why I was not able to get IITs, NITs, and other government colleges. That's why I decided to go with private colleges, but private colleges have higher fees. Between other private colleges, Chandigarh University offered a low fee for B-Tech with my interested branch, i.e. Computer Science, which is why I took admission in Chandigarh University. For admission in B-Tech/B-E, the admission criteria of Chandigarh University are Intermediate in Science stream with 50% aggregate. Also, CUCET(Chandigarh University Common Entrance Test) is mandatory for admission to the B.E. course. During admission, the college admission community asked for my class 10, 12, JEE(if anyone appeared), and a Cucet score for admission.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I chose Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science due to my interest and curiosity about learning technological things. Talking about the faculty of Chandigarh University, it is quite good. Teachers are very cooperative and supportive in nature. Their qualifications are Ph.D. in a particular subject. If the teacher is teaching mathematics to students, then my University mostly prefers those teachers who had done masters, Ph.D. in mathematics. Also, their qualifications are like M-Tech in Computer Science with more than 5-10 years of experience in the teaching field for technical subjects. Mid-Semester, as well as Final Exams, are conducted between intervals of few months. The difficulty level of examination is moderate and some questions are difficult too. But if any student will prepare for it seriously then It is not difficult to pass.

Internships Opportunities

5

For internships, many companies come to Chandigarh University campus like Microsoft, Infosys, Tech Mahindra, etc. Those internships which are offered by MNCs are paid and some are unpaid, only certificates are provided for some. Companies want technical projects like Web development, App Development, and projects including Knowledge of Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, etc. Those students whose projects include these technical things are getting preferences.

Placement Experience

5

After 6-7 semesters students become eligible for campus placements. There is a big list of a number of companies visiting Chandigarh University campus, almost 691 companies visit the campus Like Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Deloitte, IBM, etc. Last year our highest package was 35 lakhs per annum which was offered by Google, 18 lakhs per annum offered by Microsoft and an average package of 8-9 lakh per annum. Most CSE students are getting placements and their percentage is very high as compare to other branches. After getting my BE degree, I will grab placement in MNCs and after doing few years of Job I will do my Masters degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Indian government college through GATE.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are a lot of scholarship programs at Chandigarh University. The first among them is CUCET, which is basically an entrance examination that is mandatory for admission to UG courses. Students can get up to 100% scholarship through cucet score. If the student's cucet score is between 90 to 100 marks then 100% scholarship, 80 to 90 marks then 50% scholarship, 70 to 79.99 marks 40% scholarship, 60 to 69.99 marks 30% scholarship, 50 to 59.99 marks 25%scholarship and if 40 to 49.99 then 15% scholarship. Not only through Cucet but also from JEE and 12th score students can get scholarship easily.

Campus Life

5

There are many types of events that are conducted in Chandigarh University, some are annual fests, some are tech fests and some for freshers and some for seniors after placement. Basically, during the semester break, these events are conducted on the Chandigarh University campus. Talking about the libraries and books of Chandigarh University, this University has a great library of mostly all books related to different programs are present in this. Classrooms are also very good, there is a good amount of fans and lights for good visualization and comfort for students. Chandigarh University has all sports and games ground, outside as well as inside groud for wholesome development of students. Coders Lodge, The coders association club are some of clubs for students run by students.

Hostel Facilities

5

The hostel facilities of Chandigarh University is very good. Hostel facilities include mess, internet, salon, music room, common room including TV and cable facilities, laundry, gym, etc. The mess provides fresh and nutritious food to students 4 times a day including evening snacks. Quality of food is also good, milk and fruits are along with breakfast. The registration process for Hostel is very easy, the student just needs to register for the hostel on cuims (Chandigarh University Information Management System) portal. And according to their availability and your preferences, they will allot you a hostel room. The hostel is not mandatory if any student wants to take PG or rented room then also it is allowed by University, Rented room and PG room is far as compared to hostels.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
