Remarks

The college had good teachers and students. But a lot of potential was wasted in regular strikes.

Entrance Preview

KEAM 2000, 12th rank selected the college since this was the college with best grading for electronics and communication engineering. It was in the same city where I had completed my 12th.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Course structure was good for BE. Syllabus covered a vast deal of the area, and in some subject the syllabus was more than what I learnt for Mtech, later. But, each of the topics were covered in a rather shallow sense, and the exams tested only the reading skills, and never the problem solving skills.

Internships Opportunities

During BE, there were no internships offered in the college. Some students did their final year project in ISRO. This was done through the ISRO project application process.

Placement Experience

4.5

Placements were good, with almost everyone who were eligible for placements getting at least one offer, from the electrical communication engineering department. There were few with multiple offers as well. Electronics, computer science, electrical students did not have issues with placement.

College Events

4.5

There was a arts festival named Dhwani and a technical festival named Drishti celebrated every year. Every department had their own annual days and get togethers. There were a few sports events as well. Then, there was annual day for the hostels and so on.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure is affordable to the students who came on general merit through the entrance examinations. Semester fees was about Rs 3500/- or so, and college bus costed some Rs 300/- per month. Hostlers would have paid som Rs 2000/- extra per month. The fees for NRI seats which were introduced later could be expensive.

Fees and Financial Aid

Banks used to offer education loans, and one should get it easily from the public sector banks. There were a few scholarships offered by the state government, district administration etc. Considering the low rates of fees, the scholarships did not matter much.

Campus Life

3.5

There were quite a few events - both technical and no technical, for the interested students. I never had much of interest in participating in these events and kept away from most of them. There were a few competitions during the technical festival, for paper writing, paper presentation etc.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Never stayed in the hostel during my B.Tech but, I hear from friends that hostel life was pretty enjoyable. Food was ok. Strict entry time to the hostel and students were to reach back the hostels by 6:00pm after classes. Atleast in the first year, there were too many students per shared room.

Alumni/Alumna

Senior students from immediate batches were always helpful in giving guidance to the career, as well as in placements.

Exam Structure

There were two series tests and a semester exam for each subject every semester had two subjects which were lab intensive course and exam structure was not too hectic there was an exam for every subject every 1.5-2 months. Although there was not much of holidays, the strikes offered holidays for us to enjoy.

Admission

Admission process was simple, with centralised allotment from the state engineering entrance examination. Once the state entrance exams results were out, we had to fill in the option forms and submit with the entrance commissioners office. Allotment was done centrally based on the ranks. Since the chosen course was my first option, I did not have to wait for multiple allotments.

Faculty

3.5

We had some great faculty in the college. But, then, academic year had too many strikes by students as well as faculty. There were some subjects that were taught well, and some where there were very few classes. Quality of teaching depended entirely on the faculty assigned for the subject.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is excellent because it contains so many informative ideas and the practical lab is the best. I chose this course to get an idea about the civil engineering field and i m satisfied with it. The faculty members are very supportive and helpful. The student ratio is very low. Faculties at our college are MTech holders and PHD also. There will be two series exams and one university exam in each semester and there are eight semesters in Btech.
