Course Curriculum Overview

5

The course offers a solid mix of core concepts and practical learning, which is one of the main reasons I chose it. Subjects like Data Structures, AI, and Cybersecurity come in early, which really helps build a strong foundation. The hands-on labs and mini-projects make the learning more engaging and give a feel of how things work in the real world. I do feel the course prepares us reasonably well for both jobs and further studies, though there’s definitely room for improvement. For example, adding more updated topics like cloud computing or blockchain would make it more relevant. Also, some teaching methods still lean too much on theory instead of encouraging creativity or real-world problem solving. Exams happen quite often, with internals and end-semester tests every few months. Most of them are manageable, but they tend to focus more on memorization than understanding, which is something I hope changes going forward.

Placement Experience

4

The placement cell of the college is very active. You can get internships starting 2nd year and placements starting 3rd year. About 75% of people get placed. Many MNCs like Texas Instruments are consistent hirers. The highest package of 2025 for my course is 1 crpa. The average is about 7 lpa. A student can get 5,6 offers. I plan on higher studies abroad because I want to learn more in-depth about the course.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees per year is a low ?12500. It includes tution fees and all other fees. No extra fees are charged except exam registration fees which is about ?2000 per year. When starting you have to pay college development fees of ?15000 but ?8000 is optional. If you submit a letter you only need to pay ?7000. There are so many scholarships which are organised by the college and government. They are mostly for underprivileged castes and low income students. The amount may vary drastically.

Campus Life

3

Campus life is active and student-led, with top events like Dhwani (March – cultural) and Drishti (Feb – tech) that show talent and ideas. The library has many books and journals, plus digital access to IEEE and other tools for study. Rooms mostly have projectors and Wi-Fi, though not all are modern. Sports areas include fields for football, cricket, hoops, and a gym. Clubs like IEEE, NSS, Arts Club, and Debate Club help students grow in many ways. Still, some issues exist—bullying and group rules in hostels and clubs can be tough. Some also feel that admin is slow to act on issues. Yet, strong student bonds and clubs help most find their place on campus.

Admission

This college is the best government college in Kerala. It has been consistently first in KIRF ranking. It has very cheap fees. The campus is very beautiful and spacious (about 200 acres). My best choice of colleges very IITs and NITs like most people. I couldn't crack JEE. I only applied to this college because I had very high ranking in KEAM exam and was confident of acceptance. KEAM exam is a lot easier to crack than JEE. It has basic higher secondary school syllabus. To get my course you would have to be around 700th rank. To get other courses in my college you can have rank as low as 20k.

Faculty

3

Most faculty members are guest lecturers. So they may keep on changing. The faculty to student ratio is about 1:25. We have some very great and famous facilities. One of my personal favorites is Ajeesh Ramanujan. I don't like some facilities but I don't want to make them because it's not right. They are not skilled enough. There are 3 exams per semester. 2 of them are internal and 1 conducted by the University. Internal exams are significantly tougher than the other but students failing are somewhat rare. This course is very relevant in today's times.

Night Life

4

Nightlife around CET is great. While the gym, library, and café close by 7 PM, students can roam freely inside campus anytime, as there’s no gate closing time. Hostel in-time is 9 PM for girls, 10 PM for boys. Popular spots on campus include the canteen, Cafe Tesseract, the main ground, and the Open Air Theatre. Outside, students hang out at Cherries & Berries, Pizza Hut, or nearby places in Pattom and Technopark. The area is generally safe till late evening.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is the worst. Teachers rush through the portions so that they can finish at the earliest. It may be because the university has a unjustifiable timetable. There is very little practicals given. The ones that are given are just for namesake.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is under KTU syllubus do it's fine. There is a change in curriculum coming 2024 which i assume would make a lot of good changes. The curriculum gives you a head start For most of your work, you need to on your own but the faculty is there to help. The frequency of exams is weekly tests + monthly exams. Its not too difficult of an exam.

Currently placements are bit low, due to inflation, but compared to other colleges like KMEA, etc we have better placements similar to Muthoot and all. We have placement training, and other supports which can help us crack aptitude exams and prepare for placements Almost 70-80% students are placed every year, with an avg package of 4LPA

Placement Experience:

The students usually start appearing for campus placements in their 6th semester. The training for the campus placements is started for all the students from the 4th semester. Many companies visited for campus placements. But one main problem is that most of them were low packages. Around 4LPA. Some were between 4-6 and a very few between 6-10. Most of them got placed in our batch in some company.
