Remarks

I applied to many deemed universities. But my first priority was always Sastra University. Admission is purely merit-based. There are two streams through which admission is done. Admission to 75% of the seats are based JEE mains score and 12th board exam score combined. Admission to 25% of the seats are based on 12th board exam score. You can visit the university website for all the latest admission details. After submitting an application, rank list will be published in the website on a given day. Counseling will be held based on those ranks.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

I have chosen the electrical department because of my interest in that field and future scope. Most of the faculties are well experienced and Ph.D. holders. They are easily approachable and they give importance to students' welfare. A mentor will be assigned to every student. During the first year, we study the basics of all the departments of engineering. From the 2nd year, core subjects are taught. Faculties teaching methods are effective. Doubt clearing sessions are often conducted. Internal exams are conducted frequently. We have 3 internal assessments for each semester. The final semester exams are slightly tough. However, if you follow the classes regularly and put in some hard work, getting a good grade is possible.

Internships Opportunities

4.5

I don't have an exact idea about internships. From seniors, I heard that they have good internship opportunities in India and abroad as well. Internships are provided for students above 7.5cgpa. These internships have given them a wide range of exposure.

Placement Experience

4.5

As I'm just entering my second year, I don't have an exact idea about placements and internships. But as far as i know, placements are really good. From the 7th semester, students are eligible for placements. Many IT companies visit every year. As far as i know, TCS,mu, Sigma, Infosys are the top recruiters. Attractive packages are provided by those companies. Core companies also show up for campus placements. 90% of students gets placed every year. I'm planning on higher studies after getting UG degree. The management provides good placement training and they are updating the information regularly.

Fees and Financial Aid

The tuition fee is 75000 per semester. There will be a 5% annual increase from the 2nd year. Also, there will be few extra fees like sports fees, registration fees, and semester examination fees. They are clear and transparent regarding fee details. Scholarships are provided based on the merit list. Educational loans can be availed from different banks.

Campus Life

4.5

Sastra University has a huge green campus. It has a peaceful environment. The green lawns and stone benches are a pleasing sight. Many events take place in the university. The annual fest is named Kuruksastra. Also, huge events are conducted for sports and culture. The university has lots of canteens where you can get good food. The university has a football court, basketball court, volleyball court, gymnasium, library. The library is great. There are lots of books which are truly helpful. There was cricket ground before but now a new building is being raised there. So that is a lack. An indoor stadium named Maruti stadium is also available for indoor games. It has air-conditioned auditoriums. Many events and club activities come up and the campus environment is also good, so campus life is pretty good.

Hostel Facilities

4

There are around 8 hostels for boys in and around the campus. Hostel fees are actually very less compared to other universities. We can't say that hostel facility is the best, but it is pretty decent. There are 2 in 1,4 in1, single rooms available. Free wifi is available in the hostel. The wifi speed is decent. Mess is available so close to the hostels. South Indian and North Indian foods are provided. The food quality is average. The food is strictly vegetarian. Snacks, milk, tea, coffee are provided. There are stalls available near the hostel where we can buy snacks and stuff. The hostel room rent is around 10000 to 20000 based on the type of room. The mess fees are around 4000 per month. Other than the infrastructure stuff, we get a good hostel life with friends.
