The Eberly Center annually provides an average of 40 customized consultation services to programs, departments, schools, and colleges. This includes helping Deans, Department Heads, and groups of faculty to systematically collect, review, and use information to iteratively improve student learning and overall program effectiveness. The bulleted items below provide information to support your program-level assessment efforts.

Internships Opportunities

This program encourages Cooke Scholars to seek internships during the summers while they are undergraduate students. We believe that every student should engage in at least two internship or research experiences during their undergraduate years. Internships allow students to gain experience in a field and help determine an interest in particular career. The internship stipend allows Cooke Scholars to take advantage of internships that they may not be able to consider without the foundation's financial support. If you are a rising College Scholar (current senior in the Young Scholars program) and are interested in a summer internship, please contact your educational adviser for more information.

Placement Experience

4

If you want to get ahead into a career in the professions you should consider doing work placements or internships within the sector you are interested in. It's a good idea to start early - don't wait until you graduate to gain experience: the jobs market is competitive and by showing your commitment as soon as you can, you will stand out.

College Events

4.5

Somerset Celebration of Literature is a significant cultural event that reaches beyond Somerset College to include the whole community. This inspiring three day festival is held on the Gold Coast each year, with ticket sales exceeding 20,000 he Award of Distinction is the highest recognition presented by the college to individuals whose contributions and achievements enrich the image and reputation of the college and enhance its ability to provide public service.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Bachelor of Computer applications abbreviated as BCA is an undergraduate professional course, which is of duration of 3 years and comprises of a total of six semesters. It deals with the aim of developing sound technical knowledge in the field of Computer Science and its applications. It’s not engineering but definitely has an engineering base, tilted slightly towards the software side of computing.

Fees and Financial Aid

Shivaji University has achieved rare distinction of being the first ever University to launch the scholarship scheme for students of PG deptts and under graduate students of affiliated colleges. Every year about 500 scholarships (of Rs. 5,000/- and 10,000 per anum) are given from own corpus of the University. The Shivaji University Merit Scholarship Scheme (SUMS) offers one scholarship each of Rs. 5,000/- for every P. G. Department for both the years. University also offers one departmental research fellowship for each PG department for the scholars pursuing Ph. D. Degree.

Campus Life

4

Shivaji University, established in 1962, is named after the Great Maratha Warrior and founder of the Maratha empire Chhatrapati Shivaji. It was inaugurated on 18th November, 1962 by Dr. Radhakrishnan, the then President of India. One of the major objectives behind foundation of this University was to cater to the regional needs of South Maharashtra. The jurisdiction of the University is spread over three districts viz. Kolhapur, Sangli and Satara with strength of about 3,00,000 students studying in 280 affiliated colleges and recognised institutes. This region of Maharashtra boasts of rich and varied socio-cultural heritage. Under the innovative and socially reformist leadership of Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj, the princely ruler of Kolhapur, the city had become at the beginning of this century, a focal point of educational opportunities for all classes and communities of South-Western Maharashtra, and northern parts of neighbouring Karnataka. This is also land of Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil, who struggled for taking education to the masses by his innovative 'Earn and Learn' scheme. When the University was founded by the Shivaji University Act of 1962, the objectives set before the University included making opportunities of higher education accessible to rural youth, conducting fundamental and applied research in the field of science and humanities to ensure regional growth and development.

Hostel Facilities

4

Shivaji University boasts of three fully furnished and spacious boys’ hostels on its campus. As shown in the table, the Hostels are constructed at different times. The earliest constructed of the three is the Boys’ Hostel No. 1. Later on, with the emerging requirements two more hostels are constructed. The basic purpose behind the establishment of the Boys’ Hostels is that many of the students who seek admission in various course offered by the University come from rural areas. Since the University is the mentor of the studnts in their transformation, the University has to look after the facilities the students get on the campus. Another important fact related to the stay of the students in Kolhapur is that many a times the students are from poor and socio-economically backward classes. Therefore, it is not possible for them to occupy a private room on rent basis because the rent of such private rooms is very high and almost beyond their capacities. Thus, the basic purposes for which the Hostels are constructed are: Service by Contractor, Staff, Quality Food, Hygienic Kitchen and Dining Hall, Variety Meals at low Cost, Purified Drinking Water, Student’s Participation in menu decision, Comfortable Seating Arrangement.

Alumni/Alumna

It gives me immense pleasure to reach to you by way of this appeal. The Alumni are imperative stakeholders in Shivaji University and when harnessed aptly can play a vital role in the execution of the mandate of our University. As the Vice-Chancellor, I am in quest of strong relations with the Alumni because I am aware that the Alumni are the potential resource to lend a hand to our University to deal with various challenges. Therefore, I have proposed to widen Shivaji University Alumni Association to arouse alumni involvement and contribution in a bigger scale for the Institutional progress.

Admission

College admission isn't as competitive as you might think. Fewer than 100 colleges in the U.S. are highly selective, which means they accept less than 25 percent of applicants. Close to 500 four-year colleges accept more than 75 percent of applicants. And open-admission colleges accept all or most high school graduates.

Placement Experience:

Placement in my college are average, and students usually become eligible for placement drives in the final year. The placement cell conducts career guidance sessions, skill development workshops, and occasionally invites companies for recruitment. Many students also apply for off-campus jobs and internships to improve their career opportunities. The packages depend on the company and job profile, and students who have good academic records and technical skills generally get better opportunities
