The admission process was fluent. I applied for various national government colleges but didn't get selected. The admission criteria for Gossner College Ranchi start with a simple online application form where you have to provide all your personal as well as previous academic details. After the final submission date of the application form, they release the cutoff list based on the XII board examination marks for corresponding departments. Then they will provide you the dates of counseling for respective courses. There is no minimum age limit. The cutoff depends on the respective year percentile. The counseling process was smooth with one on one conversations with heads of the respective departments. With smooth paperwork and a flexible fee structure, the admission process was less tiring.
Course Curriculum Overview
I opted for physics as the subject of my honors. I have studied science in my higher secondary and physics being an Interesting subject with wide future opportunities I decided to opt for physics. The faculty of my department was very highly reputed. With doctorate degrees and long teaching experience, they were very welcoming and cooperative. The department consisted of 6 permanent professors. The new CBCS pattern has now been adapted to the college which provides students the flexibility to choose their subjects for each semester. The course consists of six semesters. Each semester consists of fixed credits. There will be one end semester and one mid-semester in each semester to complete your credits. The exam was curriculum-based with regular study and class one can conveniently score the credits. Even if one failed to clear a paper they can fill the form for re-examination or can clear it in another semester. So overall the curriculum was student-friendly and convenient.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure was semester-based. The fee structure was student-friendly and flexible. Online fee payment and e- challan facilities are provided to students. The fee structure in 2016 -19 was rupees 8000 per semester including practical lab fee, examination fee, and tuition fee. The scholarship was provided to the students in reservation or PWD categories. The fees hike was completely dependent on the state government policies and Ranchi university guidelines. The college was flexible regarding fee submission dates. College also provides financial assistance to the students in need with the help of Overseas bank which is the banking partner of the college. The campus selection of the college was completely merit-based. Various technical, non - technical and consultancy companies visit the college at the end of the academic year . Wipro ,TCS are some big companies that cost the college every for campus selection. The campus selection process is very promising and smooth
Campus Life
The annual cultural fest of college is held in the month of December. The name of the fest is 'SARANG '. This fest is for three days. Various cultural events are organized on each day. The key features of the fest are a Rock music competition, Dance face-offs, Classical music competition followed by a DJ afternoon on the last day of the fest. Students from various colleges take part in this fest. The annual technical and club fest of the college is organized in the month of April every year. In this students from various colleges compete in various events. There is a sports meet organized by them every year in the month of July where students compete in all kinds of team and individual sports. There is a number of social groups inside the college. NSS and NCC are the prominent ones. There are various social media handles and pages run by the students of the college for the welfare and support of the students enrolled and willing to enroll.
