Remarks

Being a GEN Category student I applied to a lot of colleges, as my XII ISC Boards Marks weren't that of high achievements. I applied for Vellore Institute and got rejected because of the lack of minimum eligibility criteria of PCM aggregate to be 60%. I also applied to SRM College and got a seat but the money demand wasn't affordable. I also applied for Kalinga Institute of Technology, wherein I got a CSE Specialization seat but my preference was CSE General seat. After that, I applied to Chandigarh University, gave the scholarship test to avail myself of the scholarship, here I availed Rs 8000 concession of fees and scholarship and got the CSE General Seat. Thus, I took this college as from reviews the college provided opportunities and the money factor was that of a decent amount. The college provides a lot of opportunities in both curricular and extra-curricular activities.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The main idea behind choosing CSE was its job demand. Being practical, I have to be in a position where I am successful and stable after my graduation, thus the road I chose was CSE. The student faculty ratio somewhat looks like 1 student teaching 30 students which sounds pretty normal. Moreover, in some theory classes, it is more like 1 teacher teacher, 93 students, in one go. The faculties here are either teaching and simultaneously pursuing their higher education of Masters and Post Graduations or some are at a higher post already. Talking about the teaching method, it is eco-friendly and interactive. We have ppt's, open mice sessions, and interactive hand gestures. As we use Blackboard the student interaction becomes quite easy for us in an online manner. In the end, talking about the term semesters - it isn't quite difficult to pass exams because if you know the basics you can easily pass the exams. Do note that the college is strict towards attendance so maintain it by at least 75%.

Internships Opportunities

3

I have known that the Department of Student Welfare provides students with Internship's where it is fruitful and beneficial to learn and grow in the given domain. I am not sure about the various other internships.

Placement Experience

4.5

Training Placement Cells are active from the third year, where students are trained for placements which would happen in the fourth year, As I am a second year student, I will be providing the knowledge I know. We have Google, Microsoft, Infosys, Amazon, Byju's, InfoTech, Deloitte and many more companies arriving on the campus for the hiring process. The highest package received was 35LPA and one can expect an average LPA of 7-8LPA. My personal plans after graduation aren't fixated. I might get into MBA or I might get placed. I am not quite sure, with time I will figure it out myself.

Fees and Financial Aid

The academic fee for CSE General is Rs. 80,000 per semester. In addition to this, you have to pay Rs. 2000 as an examination fee per semester. The college also provides scholarships via CUCET. Depending upon your scores you get a scholarship and concession in fee. Moreover, for the financially struggling students, the college allows Financial Assistance Aid via communicating to the concerned department.

Campus Life

5

The Campus life is exhilarating, we have festivals like Aaghaaz a fresher's carnival wherein all the freshers can showcase their talent in different domains and get accreditated in various social media handles. We also have CU Got Talent a talent round competition competing against various students across the university. We have books and journals provided but as in for online the teachers recommend and provide pdf's to the CR's who share it among the class. Since the Covid-19 unfortunately sports are something which is difficult to conduct but college manage to conduct extra-curricular activities starting from workshops to competitions, from live sessions to interactive meets. There are a lot of college community clubs in this University, Hackoverflow Technical Society is one of them which is recognised by the college. We also have LaDebug Club - an all female driven club that is a subsidiary of Hackoverflow Technical Society.

Hostel Facilities

4

I haven't visited the hostels personal because of the pandemic, but I will share the information I know. A 4 seater female hostel room will cost Rs. 90,000 per year. In there you have rooms that are spacious and you have your cupboards. The meals I have heard are decent and are on time. Besides that, we also have various restaurants and food stalls for hanging out places for the students. The registration process of the hostel is done by the CUIMS Portal (a student portal allotted to every CU Student). The allotment is done on your department basis, as in which hostel is closer to your department block.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
