Remarks
I applied for Manipal, vit and srm but their application and admission process was taking quite long. Also, their results and entrance exams got delayed. So then I opt for Chandigarh university. I got the admission directly without giving the entrance exam. The entrance exam cucet can be given in order to get a scholarship. So if you are prepping for jee, muocet, vit, srm,cet exams so you can give this as well. The admission process was quite smooth like at first I registered myself and the college student account (cuims) was given to me and after paying a quarter of the sem fees you can start your course.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose the machine learning course because I am interested in it and also its one of the emerging fields in the upcoming years. The faculty is decent. Some teachers are pretty good and have knowledge about the subject while some just teach from the pdf, ppt's they are provided with. There are approximately 32-40 in a class and in combined classes, it can go up to 75 students. Some faculty teachers go with a practical approach like doing the tasks assigned in the class while some will go with giving everything for assignments as they themselves aren't knowledgeable enough and are less experienced as well. The term exam's difficulty is decent, if you do self-study then you will be able to pass the exams.
Internships Opportunities
Internships are there but you have to register yourself in our (office of international relations ) / dcpd in order to get internships. They help in shaping you in terms of what the industry needs and also help in resume work.
Placement Experience
If a student works hard enough he will be able to get into a good company. Microsoft and Google are the few companies that offer a package of 35 lakhs/p.a. But these packages are for the top 5% of students I guess. There is this joint placement thing in Chandigarh university, where students from other surrounding universities and colleges also come here for the placements. The courses are pretty good in order to shape the student for the industry.
Fees and Financial Aid
You have to pay the fees on time. In the 1 st sem the fees were around 1 lakh and in my second year, the sem fees have increased to 1,05,000. You have to give the cucet exam in order to get a scholarship.
Campus Life
My first year has been online. But there are a few techs and cultural events organized by the university. There are a lot of events related to tech and entrepreneurship. The library is pretty huge and you will get all kinds of books in order to read and study about your course. The university has developed the campus and its amenities during the covid time.
