CHANDIGARH UNIVERSITY REVIEW BY 1ST YEAR STUDENT

I only applied for Chandigarh University, as this was the only university that was so much better than other universities or colleges (excluding IIT, NIT, VIT, BITS). No, I didn't avail any quota for admission. The admission criteria is you can give CUCET exam. You can also get admission from your JEE Mains marks or your 12th marks. There is no minimum marks for Mains but you need a minimum of 50% in 12th Board exams. There was no counseling day. CUCET was a proctored online exam. CUCET is basically an entry cum scholarship exam.

I chose B.E. CSE because I wanted to be an Engineer and I like everything about computers and all related to it. There are a lot of students in BTech CSE in CU. Also Faculty is in good strength compared to the number of students. Faculty are very well educated and they have a good teaching sense. Every teacher Sir/Mam teaches in English and seems to have good knowledge about their subjects. Exams take place after the completion of every unit. Then, there are end-term exams or final exams. If you have paid attention in the class, you can easily pass.

There are many good companies that offer placements to the students. I don't have the best knowledge regarding this as I have not got a chance for an internship yet. But as my seniors have told me that the internship opportunities that are provided to them were good. Projects were also given to them.

From 7th or 8th-semester students get eligible for campus placements. There are many good companies that visit the university and over 700 companies visited our university in 2021 amid pandemic. Almost all the students get placed somewhere. Companies offered over 35Lakh in 2021. I'm planning to do MBA after completing my Graduation.

Fees hike takes place every year but I think it remains the same for existing students. I don't have a greater knowledge about this as I am a 1st year student. For B.E. CSE the cost in 2021 is 90,000 per semester. If you get a scholarship then price will be less. CUCET exam provides scholarship to the students. It provides upto 100% scholarship.

There are a lot of things going around on campus. There are lots of events and hackathons that take place on the campus. Books are available from the library. Students can go to the library to take some books or they can read there. There are lots of extracurricular activities that take place also many sports events in which students can take part. A campus like is very great in CU.

Hostels in CU are very well maintained. You are provided with a table, a chair, a bed, and 1 almirah. Mess quality is very good. Sometimes you will feel that the food is being repetitive or is not good, but it is basically because the same mess food (different food for different days though) is served for 3-4 months. The registration process is simple, you will get a form where you can mention your preference. I have not rented a room or PG but they are available very close to the university.
