Remarks

I didn't apply to any other college than this. I did not take any quota for admission too. The admission criteria for the college was the CUCET exam in which we were given questions of English, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Each of 30 marks and English of 10 marks. Admission criteria are based on JEE/CUCET marks/Board Marks and scholarships are provided on the basis of these. There are no minimum marks criteria and a telephonic counseling session would be arranged for the enrolling students.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I chose this course as I love Engineering, coding and always wanted to become a scientist. The faculty to student ratio is nearly 1:50. The teachers are highly qualified and many are currently pursuing PhDs along with teaching here. The teachers would explain to you in Hindi too, but only if time allows as the course is very diverse and large. There are 2 Mid-Semester Tests 1 Final Test in each semester. The exam has a difficulty level of below hard.

Internships Opportunities

5

We have companies such as Google, Amazon, Microsoft, IBM giving internship opportunities, giving stipends of 60-100 Thousand Rupees. The projects are based on a large variety of domains from Android to Machine Learning to Artificial Intelligence to Web Development and Legal Hacking.

Placement Experience

5

The placements are quite of mediocre level, but the benchmark is being set high every year for the average placements. We get to see top-notch companies like Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Facebook, Deloitte, Goldman Sachs, TCS. 1500+ on-campus offers made every year for B.E. CSE. The highest package is 45 Lakh Per Annum an average of 3.5 Lakh per annum. More than 80% of students are placed. I want to launch a tech startup in the field of Data Science after this degree as it is a very promising domain.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees would not get hiked suddenly and the cost of study can be around 1.5 Lakh per semester including all of your expenses. There are many scholarships by Chandigarh University as well as Government like in Bihar, we have DRCC, Laxmi Padhao Yojna where you get scholarship benefits.

Campus Life

5

Annual Techfest is TechInvent from August to September and HTS Genesis exclusively for the new students. There are large bookshelves in the library where you can read a lot and enjoy the learning process in peace. The classes are fully ventilated and ACs are available in labs. Your department would help you go in the Sports if you prove to them that you can balance studies along with sports and at last bring laurels for the society. There are more than a hundred clubs run by students of which top are HTS, IEEE, CU_Coders, Codechef CU, GDSC.

Hostel Facilities

5

In the rooms, we are given 1 table, 1 chair, 1 bed, and an almirah individually to keep our books and clothes. The meal is of moderate level and the menu keeps on changing on a weekly basis. We get all sorts and a variety of dishes served ( veg + non-veg ). You need to register through the official website of the college and check for availability. If you want PG, you can check in the southern part of campus.

Placement Experience:

Students generally become eligible for placement from 7th semester, with numerous major companies like wipro, cognizant and various tech startups visit the campus with various offers. The university sees a high percentage of students getting placed. The package are widely depending on various skill and codes. Furthermore while the highest package looks impressive on paper, the avg package remains modest for the majority of the batch. My personal plans after getting the degree focus on exploring independent entrepreneurial ventures rather than tradition corporate placement.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
