Entrance Preview

Let me begin with how I got to know about SASTRA University, first day at this college and how things are now, for I have finish 2.5 years of this college life now. My marks was 87% and automatically, I was ineligible for the merit seats across various top colleges. I eventually was suggested to pick SASTRA University under the NRI Quota (Fee has to be paid in USD).

Course Curriculum Overview

5

Talking about the academic life, it varies across departments. My department professors are strict, except a few, while other department guys may be happy or sad. For example, the IT, Mechanical and Ciivl guys are super happy in their life, while those belonging to my department have to find trouble every other day. The coaching skills vary widely too. Some professors are just best. While some are not.

Placement Experience

4.5

Finally, wrapping up, the placements are decent enough. Some of the top honchos like Amazon, eBay, TCS, Wipro, IBM, and Ashok Leyland come here to pick the best brains. There are new startups like Freshdesk (Disclaimer: Founded by a SASTRA University graduate, Girish Mathrubootham) coming too, to pick the relevant future heroes. Approximately, 85% of the total students get placed and I am proud of my college being one of the few that provides a better success-rate.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee costs 340350 for the first year and 272280 each year for the successive 3 years. It costs Rs 45000 for the merit students.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are huge scholarships too. You need to have a huge CGPA though. Good luck if you are joining SASTRA University.

Campus Life

5

Anyway, for me, those didn't really matter to me. This is my first experience in hostel-life and I am really loving it. Being with friends and chatting with them all night long, playing crickets inside the hostel (sneakily, without the permission of the warden) and the long board games we play at night, that is just heavenly. Also, I am proud to say that my college has a 24x7 college-full enabled WiFi network to provide hassle-free access to the internet. The social networking sites are blocked though. But, that doesn't really matter to us. We have various proxy tools to bypass that and the guys from the management haven't tracked us down yet. I am thankful to God for letting that not happen until now. There is Tanjore just 20 minutes away and Trichy, just 60 minutes away. They have the famous KFC, McDonalds and various other local joints to make your taste-buds happy.

Hostel Facilities

4

Talking about the hostel life at SASTRA University, it is one of the best ever. I am not sure why I feel this way, but that is the truth. It may be true that the hostel rules are pretty strict - you will have to be at the room everyday when the warden comes to check on your presence at the room, be back to college before 8 pm and your allowance of going home being only 2. The mess food, yeah, it is just like any other hostel student life. The food isn't really poor. It is digestible and I am again proud to say that my college does better food than most other collegs in India. But, as the time goes by, you start hating it. Thankfully there are various shops just outside the college to help you get your favorite junk food.

I chose this course because it covers important subjects related to computer science, programming, databases, networking, and emerging technologies. The combination of theoretical knowledge and practical subjects influenced my decision to choose this course. The curriculum provides a good foundation in technical concepts and programming. However, more practical projects, industry-based training, internships, and real-world applications would help students become better prepared for careers and further studies.
