Remarks

I applied to Ramanujan College, Delhi University, and attended it as much i could before the pandemic hit. I am from the general category and did not avail any quota. The average age of my batch was around 18-19 yrs during our first year of college and admission was given on the basis of marks scored in our12th grade which was around 95% in the first list and went down to about 91% in the final list (best 4 subs were considered with English as a mandatory sub to be considered for best 4 and maths needed to be a subject one had studied even if it wasn't considered in one's best 4). The admission process was pretty smooth and very well organized. Every place was properly demarcated on the admission day and a lot of help was provided by the admissions team.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I chose b.com Hons for my graduation as at the time accounts really interested me as a subject and I wanted to gain more insight and knowledge into the core subjects I studied in my higher education. Hence, B.com Hons ticked those boxes for me and I took it for my graduation. The faculty to students ratio would be around 2 teachers for every 60 students. The faculty was well educated and a considerable amount of professors had a doctorate in their subject. Every teacher did an amazing job and was articulate and effective. They even managed to transition to online teaching when the pandemic hit and made sure to involve students as much as they could even though they faced various technological challenges. We had exams after the end of every semester, papers were lengthy but not difficult to pass.

Internships Opportunities

4

Internship opportunities are given in BDA, Graphic designing, web designing, and various other profiles to students in their 1st,2nd or 3rd year. A lot of fairly new companies also provide internships with stipends.

Placement Experience

4.5

In our last year, one becomes eligible for campus placement. Internships are available for students in their 1st and 2nd years. Companies like KPMG, EY, D.E.SHAW, Deloitte, Decathlon, Zomato, and so on have visited and a considerable no of offers have been made. The highest package to my knowledge was made of INR 20 lakh p.a. and the average would be around 2-3 lakh p.a. the profiles range from various financial services to graphic designing. Around 50% of students get placed. I got placed through campus placement and wish to gain experience and grow in the firm.

Fees and Financial Aid

The cost to study was around 13,000 rs per year making it 39,000 for 3 yrs. There was a slight hike during my last yr of college which did upset a few students but the college was helpful and always willing to assist students who faced any problem with regard to the fee. I believe the cost to study is an effective amount given the infra we used and the opportunities we got after college. In my last year, I sat for campus placement and got a job at a good audit firm plus.

Students of 3rd year are eligible for the same. Mckinsey, BCG, Bain, Blackrock, Meesho etc being the most prestigious recruiters. Highest package varies, but it went around 36 L last year. Avg being around 8 L. I would say most students who apply for placements get placed, however only a few get placed in the top companies. I personally wish to pursue an MBA.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Although, people say that B.Com doesn't have a great scope to it, I feel like there are many life lessons that we are taught during our college years. Since the introduction of NEP 2020, there has been a rather great emphasis on practical learning. In our college, we are asked for presentations and group projects to promote learning and communication. The presence of SEC and VAC also helps you develop your soft skills, groom your personality and live a happy and healthy life. Exams are help at the end of every semester. There are a few guides and PYQs with the help of which a student can prepare for these exams. They are relatively easy in my opinion and do not require extreme efforts. Overall, it's a great experience and a great opportunity to learn so many things.
