Remarks

The factors that affected me the most were the placement and other oppurtunities that the college offered which I got to know after talking to some seniors. I knew every college has some good teaching staff and some below one's expectation, so faculty wasnt a major factor for me. And till now I do see the amount of oppurtunities the college brings for student be it through webinars or workshops or Guest lecture events.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I had taken Computer science as a subject in my 11th and 12th and from there my Interest in this field grew even more so I decided to pursue this course. I'm not quite aware of the student to teacher faculty ratio so I wont comment on that. But most of the teachers in here are either pursuing their Phd, or have completed their Phd. or have completed their Masters degree. Teaching method ofcourse differs from teacher to teacher, some are really good with their subject, like it is visible that they know their stuff, while some just tend to complete the syllabus which I believe is the case in Many colleges as well.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

I have opted for an android development internship right now, and they are teaching me about the course first, after completion of the course I will be eligible for internships so I cant comment about the stipend.

Placement Experience

3.5

Placement and job oppurtunies are good enough to decent i feel. They provide you with oppurtunites even till 1 year after your graduation is completed, They notify you about different companies coming to the campus and you can select if you want to go for the interviews or not. The companies that visit us are amazon, Microsoft, IBM, etc and the highest CTC is 35lpa in our college. There were around 15-20 companies that made multiple offers worth more than 15lpa . so yeah, you will get oppurtunities through the college but in the end you yourself have to make it count.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure for CSE is 640000. And some other security charges are added along with it in every semester. Scholarship oppurtunities are easily available as you just have to enroll for the CUCET exam of the college which is a proctored exam and the questions are based on you 11th and 12th. The more you score the higher scholarship you get, you might not even have to pay a penny if you score good enough marks. The college also provides scholarships based on JEE exam and your 12th board percentage. The college also sets up any kind of financial assistance that you need. They also provide a loan which has an approval rate of 90%. Talking about internships and placements, you get many oppurtunites in the college, but in the end you have to make it count and use the oppurtunities wisely. And for the record companies like Amazon, IBM, Microsoft etc come to the college but as I said earlier, It depends on you where you get yourself to and how you make it count.

Campus Life

4

The social life at campus is really good, the seniors are really helpful. There are events held every now and then and you get to interact with different people and be a part of their communities. Various clubs are also there focussing on different aspects of the students need. There is a library as well as e-library for the students where I believe more than 40k books are available. There are playgrounds for different sports as well where many students have fun. Also There is no case of Ragging in our college and the seniors are really friendly with the juniors.

Exam Structure

There is no such criterion to take admission in our college except the fact that you must have scored 50% in your 12th board exams. Although, there is an exam named CUCET which students who seek scholarships or financial assistance can attempt. The higher you score the more scholarship you get. Also our college gives you scholarship based on jee score. I didnt attempt the CUCET exam so this is all I know about it.

Admission

Nope, I didnt have to go through any of these processes for the admission. All you need is a 50% in your HSSC 12th std exam, and you can enroll yourself in the engineering courses. I'm not aware about the rest of the courses offered.

Companies start coming summer internships in the 5th and 6th semester though ,CG cuts are imposed so very less students are elgible to sit for these companies, The real placement season is 7th and 8th semester and many companies visit campus for placements. around 60 percent students got placed in the recent placement drive. The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

NITJ has a placement cell, also known as the Centre of Training and Placements(TPO office of NITJ). The placement scenes differ depending on the courses offered. The average placements are 12-14LPA in the Computer Science branch. Every year, hundreds of companies, including Pvt and govt both. PSUs like HPCL and BPCL recruit students based on merit and academic excellence.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

As i have opted the course B.Pharmacy! I rate the course as optimal, neither too bad nor too good, its medium! Now comes on teaching method, some teachers are really well and good and few are those who does not teaches but only writing writing, thats it, they will not explain at all! And one thing they should change is that All Courses except B.Pharmacy in Chandigarh University have the criteria to pass the student even below the 40% only or the half of the highest number scored by the topper in the class, and for Bpharmacy its minimum requirement to pass the exam is 50%, Oh My God! This needs to be changed, Now every year, in Bpharmacy, the overall 80% students are getting Compartments (Back/Fail) in the subjects, but the University is not understanding it all. So this should be changed as earlier!

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
