Remarks

Eligibility of the course is min 45 % aggregate marks in higher Secondary Education in science stream. The application process is usually done through a single-window process. Candidates need to register for this when the details get published by the University of Calicut. Allotment memo should be downloaded and the prescribed fees should be paid online to ensure admission. Once the allotment came, the student should join their allotted college to be considered for the next allotments. Students having reservations will surely get the benefits. Once joined permanently, students can apply for a scholarship/e-grantz to get financial support.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

The course curriculum is really good for students of different capabilities, as it is nice and easy. I chose this particular course because I am passionate about Chemistry. The faculty support of this college is appreciable. When you have a need, there is student corner officer staff to ensure assistance. There are ample faculty members in both teaching and non-teaching staff, and all of them are well qualified in their positions and are responsible also. It's really grateful to talk about teaching methods. All the teachers are really friends of students and they provide immense support for their carrier. Ample lab facilities are available in the college. Any kind of support needed by the students will be met by this institute, whether it is financial, psychological, or something related to the curriculum. Examinations are carried out based on the university timetable(which may be on time or can be extended according to the university timings). Usually, the exams are easy-moderate.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

Students could get apprenticeships/internships at various companies according to their course and knowledge. Postgraduate students are usually sent to eminent institutions like IISER, NIST, NIT, etc for their final year projects. Students get wide exposure during their study time to the field in which they are interested.

Placement Experience

3.5

Malabar Christian College has an active placement cell to ensure safe careers for students. Placement drives are generally carried out by placement cell 4or 5 times a year. Various companies of national and international fame will recruit student trainees so that they can assure a safe career soon after their studies. Placement offers are more for art subject students. Science students also get notifications about apprenticeship and trainee vacancies by various industries through their departments. I chose to take post-graduation after BSc. For students who are not interested in further studies could get a comfortable job even from their last semester itself. Any kind of support is assured from faculty.

Fees and Financial Aid

The cost of study in MCC is generally low that a person from any financial background could meet. At the time of admission, the student has to pay a small (less than 500) departmental fees, admission fees, and PTA fees for the upcoming years. No, extra fees or donation is there to be paid by students. I got e-grantz during my study time so that there was no need to pay examination fees and college fees for all the 3 years. If any student is struggling due to poor financial background, they can contact respective departments or college office so that they will surely get the needed financial assistance. There is an active placement cell on the campus so that students can attend interviews based on their qualifications and interests. Placement runs are generally carried out by the cell at least 4 or 5 times a year, through which aspirants could get in touch with famous companies and could start their carrier soon after their studies.

Campus Life

4.5

Campus Life in MCC is great to say in one word. The enjoyable and relaxing environment of campus provides a comfortable atmosphere to students. Annual day celebration, sports day, Art festival, talent festivals, etc is there with plenty of enjoyable moments. Onam, Holi, Deewali, and Christmas celebrations are generally carried out by students union in an appreciable manner. Another important aspect of MCC is the availability of plenty of books in the library. It is run by efficient and friendly staff to provide a world of knowledge. A departmental library is also available for students. Classrooms and labs are neat and clean all the time with eminent personalities to provide support. Every classroom meets. The complete needs of students during their study time. Fresh and pure air circulation is ensured even though the campus is situated in the middle of the city. Student politics has a remarkable place in the well-being of MCC. Various political groups like SFI, KSU, and MSF are here.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

The girls hostel construction is under process. Eve though students can get PG or hostel near the campus at affordable rates. I used two hostels for stay. Both are near to new bus stand Kozhikode. One has a monthly charge of 3500 which is run by CSI management. Other is just behind this,Sreekandeswaram kshetra yogam aworking women's hostel of monthly payment of 5000 . Meal quality and facilities are moderate in both these places. Hospital and other facilities are very near to hostel and college. Both are safe for girls to stay. For boys, different PGs are available near to college.

My favourite subject is biology. I have applied for zoology course but unfortunately there is no seats available at that time, so I chose Botany which is also my favourite. The curriculum is perfect and prepares for real world. More practical sessions are needed. Every 6 months there will be semester exam. Which is not that much tough.
