Remarks

The course eligibility depends on the marks of class 12th final exams. The admission process is simple and direct admission is offered from college. You must have a good percentage of marks, especially on the subject you are taking honors. In my case, my 12th Biology mark was very good. That's why I have got a chance in Botany honours. Moreover, you need to have a minimum of 75 % marks overall and you have to give the best of 4 subjects marks. The college selection committee will create a merit list based on the marks best of 4 subjects. I found the application form on their main website. The application fee was around 6000 rs. Reservation is available for all the candidates who belong to OBC/SC/ST & PWD

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I want to be a professor of Botany and I got good marks in Biology in my 12th exam. I have an interest in studying trees and plants. We had 5 professors and around 44 students in the first year. But in the last year, only 8 students passed. Initially, we had the student-faculty ratio is 9:1 which means for every 9 students we had one professor. Our professor was very good. They were very willing to teach us. They used to take a lot of practical classes. In short, their teaching technique was very good. We used to give one final exam to qualify for the next year. Moreover, our professor used to take a lot of mock tests in our department class. Exams are not very easy to pass.

Fees and Financial Aid

The total course fee was around 20,000rs. The course fee was affordable and the fee does not hike very much. However, for female candidates, there is a Kanyashree scholarship available. There is also the Swami Vivekananda Scholarship available. You have to get 60% marks every year to get this scholarship. No job campusing is offered from college

Campus Life

4

Campus life was very good. A lot of cultural programs are organized every year. The classroom is very decent in size and decoration. We had a big playground in our college. And the campus is very good. Our library room was very big with all kinds of books available. We have got all our books from our library There is an excursion organized by our botany department. We visited Darjeeling for the excursion. There is also various sports activity and annual sports programs held in our college.

Placement Experience:

People who major in my department usually opt for masters over placement not because of this college but because overall industrial or academic opportunities are better with a pg degree. Masters from this college is not recommended as i have heard so from my seniors. Some of my seniors managed to crack competitives and secure MSc seats at great places. Training and Placement cell had a good coordinator previously but now its almost non existent. Companies do come and hire Bpharm, Mpharm and MSc candidates. Packages are below average. Only Nestle pays well. But if you do well you'll eventually climb up the corportate ladder. From the time i am here i have not heard of any BSc candidate getting placed. Most go for higher studies.

Placement Experience:

The average package offered for such roles ranges between ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package offered to a BSc student is around ?4 LPA, depending on skills and specialization. Overall, around 15–20% of BSc students get placed through campus drives, and many students rely on off-campus opportunities.

The course is very relevant as it provides us an overall knowledge of biology and not dividing it into various sections rather giving us an insight of every aspect of biology. It includes everything such as microbiology, zoology, botany, physiology, molecular biology and so on.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum was well thought out as per me but there were subjects that i found absolutely unnecessary. Subjects like history evs and clc were in no way related to my course. Coming to the main subjects Design, Printing, Photography and film and Media Training were absolutely necessary for my course and whilst the faculty for some of these subjects were really bad, some were good. It is also important to mention none of these subjects actually helped us prepare for the real world. Instead internships and freelance helped us more than these subjects could ever do. Exams were held bi monthly to keep track of what we learnt and every 6 months we had our semester exams. Overall if you want to be a media professional INTERNSHIPS AND JOBS WILL HELP YOU MORE THAN A COLLEGE WILL. I am biased on this opinion as my college didnt provide me with the correct guidance and support i needed to make it in the real world.

Placement Experience:

In case of computer science department, placement is provided at the Last year of M.sc course. Many companies like Wipro, b10x, Tata visited here. Highest package ever is three lakh per annum. 20-40% of the students got placement after completing M.Sc computer science. My plan after B.sc is to pursue MCA.

* It's all about practical knowledge, we are getting from this course and another aspect is if you wants to make your career in research or lecturer then you should go for it. *No changes required in teaching methods but if college will provide hostel facilities and campus requirement drive, then it will better for candidates.
