NIST is the number - 1 college in Eastern India, top most college in Odisha, it holds 60th Rank among all Engineering colleges in India (by Outlook). One of the reality is, I was staying in Berhampur where the college is located - this is the biggest factor, which induced me to join the college. I heard a lot about this college, since this is the best Engineering college in Odisha. It's campus is very beautiful and after seeing it we can't ignore this college. Apart from this it's Labs, academics, sports facilities (indore stadium) are awesome. So if you are not able get into any IIT and NIT colleges, then this one of the best private colleges.

Course Curriculum Overview

Courses in our college was industrial standard. So if you will take any branch like ECE, CS/IT, Mechanical, EEE then can get jobs in very renowned industries/companies, due to your exposure towards practical knowledge because of the LAB facilities

Internships Opportunities

I have done my internship in Sankalp Semiconductor, in VLSI/Electronics field (Analog designer). After that, I placed and joined in INTEL INDIA and my initial package was 11 LPA (Even I was selected in INFOSYS and WIPRO campus drive)

Placement Experience

As per my experience, there are so many companies coming for Campus recruitment. e.g., TCS, Capgemini, INFOSYS, Wipro etc. IT companies. Cadence, Sankalp, broadcom, entuple, perfect VIP, Corel etc. VLSI companies. for other companies and details please visit college site.

College Events

There is 2 tech fest happening in our college yearly. One can participate in all these events and all these are grand, even big celebrities are invited in those nights and all tech fest and event are for inter-college competition. I have participated in technical events mostly in my time and have won many awards as well - last year I was part of the organization committee. You can participate in cultural events as well.

Fees and Financial Aid

If your family income is less than 2.5Lakhs then you can get TWF scholarship, which will waive full tuition fees. Apart from this you can get NIST scholarship of 1500 Rs each month if you have a very good academic background and poor economic background. (I was part of these scholarships)

Campus Life

I think NIST has one of the biggest Library among best institutes in INDIA. It's LABs well designed to amplify knowledge of an Engineer. And about Campus and sports facility - you need to go there and live it, it's AWESOME.

I don't like 75% attendance and the strictness of the faculty members

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is now updated since it became a University, so its more relevant to industry now but still we have to do extra courses for coding. Exams happen every few months—2 internals and one end-sem. They are not very easy, you actually need to study to pass without backlogs

Likes

The infrastructure of each campus in the college is very pretty and it's a green campus
The classrooms are well equipped with WiFi, Smart-boards for digital education.
Also travelling from one campus to another has been made easier as buses and golf carts are provided to students

Dislikes

The crowd of students here is too much which feels too much chaotic and disturbing .
The hostel management here as they don't give importance to the major issues here.
The hostel mess food. The quality is degrading day by day

Placement Experience:

The placements of my college is good. This year 75% of the students are already placed with an average package of 8LPA . The highest package till now for this year is 22LPA. Many companies have visited for the placements and 100+ offers have been made. Companies like BNY, Infosys, Deloitte, Accenture, Capgemini, Cognizant, Bain& Company, High Radius, TCS, EY, PWC and many more of them have visited the campus.

The college campus greenery and campus cleaning management are doing really very well that is the only good part but that doesn't matter much for your career.
⭐⭐There is nothing good to mention about this college after going through all the procedures from taking admission to degree,I regret and many of my friends also regretting taking admission into this college.⭐⭐

Dislikes

They have a good well maintained cricket ground but students are never allowed there only for commercial purposes and to attract new joinee.
Staff and management are very helpful and polite only till admission done.🥲.
Hostel food quality is extremely unhigenic, no one takes responsibility after many complaints also.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum was very classical , too much theory oriented for placement point of view they will provide last 1 month or 2 months training for aptitude part rest for technical you have to study on your own.

The campus life after college hours is quite engaging and helps us develop as a person.
Extra curricular activities are into multiple options.

Bad condition of the washrooms ,not cleaned.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum includes the real projects which help learn more practically. It would had been better to have more site and industrial visits and export sessions to learn better.The exams are not so difficulty to score.

The pedagogy is excellent since majorly learning is through real-world case studies, reserach papers, peer discussions and interactive class activities. The professors provide materials and pre-reads at the starting of the term and the content is highly focussed on practical learning. The AI sessions are enriching. The difficulty level of exams vary among the instructors but usually is aligned with topics already taught.

there are smart class rooms and good faculty for my course and various extracurricular activities are available for students
you can compete many state and national level competitions such as essay writings, creative writings, debate, poster making, etc.
the management of the university is really commendable. various departments and cells have been established to help students in their academic life such as; placement cells, incubation and innovation centers for young entrepreneurs

Dislikes

students who are engaged in political activities often exercise their dominance over other students
sanitation could be better with the mutual efforts of both the students and the college management
though is a placement cell present, i haven't seen many numbers of students getting employed through the university placement cell

sociology as an academic discipline is really sought after in the recent times. it is considered as one of the most sought elective chosen by the upsc aspirants and the discipline in itself gives you a great chance at understanding your society and other societies about how they function amd operate, provides knowledge about various cultures, health, environment, city structure and so much more. you can pursue higher studies or go for NET exams right after post graduation. you can also work with ngos and other nonprofit organizations. each semester is ideally of 6 months and two exams are there. the difficulty level of exams would range from moderate to high

Course Curriculum Overview:

Well MBBS is a serving degree, if you are interested in serving the people you can choose this degree. It also needs a lot of patience, here we have classes from 7 AM so its a bit hard to wake up this early & ends at 4 PM which causes more trouble coz u won't get to rest properly, usually we end up being tired & lack of sleep, so I think this schedule can have a bit more change with regards to us children. The exams here are done very frequently, as in the class tests are taken up time to time , sometimes surprise tests are also done so u have to be very updated with what's being studied each cls.The internals are held in every trimester & at the end of the year a product exam is being held which is the important one.

My college is best

Likes

Things I like is to good faculty, garden.
VSSUT provides the best amenities and bathrooms.
Excluding hostel & other facilities are like good.

Dislikes

The water quality is not good at all from mess side.
The drainage system is not maintained well.
The surroundings are not clean and the guarda are strict.

Placement Experience:

Some say that the celllege has better placements, but that the salary is not very lucrative. Infosys, Tata Steel, IBM, Wipro, Cisco Systems, Larsen and Cognizant, Maruti Suzuki, Adani Group. My plans are to go to better iim for mba

As i didn't score much in my entrance exams I had to opt for tier 2-3 colleges from which as i am from odisha and many of my realtives and friends suggested NIST University. My College Life.

I didn't applied in any other colleges. I joined this college because the rules and regulations and the faculty members are good. The college provides an average placement of 9 LPA to the students and placements of highest package 25 laksh in MNCs like Accenture,Tata,Texas Instruments etc. To get admission in my college a student have to clear JEE exam with a good percentile and have to book seat and then have to wait for the joining list to be released by the college once it is released the student can get admission by paying the joining fees on the joining date...Read More
