Remarks

The eligibility criteria was the JEE percentile scored. The application was available online on the website portal- www.gndu.ac.in as well as offline in the University regional and main campuses. There are reservations available in every branch and course in the University for SCs, ST's and OBCs as it is a Govt. University, under the UGC with A++ NAAC accreditation. The improvement might be regarding the counselling sessions where there alot of people and a little mis-managent of time.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

This course provides a professional outlook towards the IT industry. The faculty provided in the campus is highly qualified amd learned. There are professors and lab assistans and all other faculty members persent to assist a student 24*7. The teachers teach with practical examples with concept-based learning and the curriculum itself is based on practical learning. All the materials are provided by teachers with meticulous research and even tough concepts become easy to grasp. The term exams are divided over 2 examinations- Minors and Majors. Minors hold less weightage and cover about 50 percent of the syllabus. Minors occur in the middle of the term/semester. Majors hold more weightage and cover all of the syllabus. Majors are end-of-term examinations.

Fees and Financial Aid

The overall cost for a B.Tech degree in the college would cost about 6-8 lakhs. The fees or even semesters is usually less than the fees for odd semesters as even semesters are shorter. The fees doesn't vary much throughout the degree. A lot of govt. and govt. aided scholarships are available, along with fee-co session amd sibling scholarships. Earn while your learn is also an opportunity provided by the University where a student works in the on-campus library to earn money.

Campus Life

4

The yearly inter-departmental fest, called Jashan is held every March where the students from all over the university can participate. Tech fests by different departments are also organised. The Bhai Gurdas Library is one of the largest libraries in North-India with all of the books required for all of the courses offered by the University. The classrooms are equipped with projectors and the labs available are fully air conditioned with latest and updated equipments. The university gym is unisex and there is a monthly membership accessible to students. Sports like Archery, Swimming, Football, Basketball, Hockey, Tennis etc are available in the University with proper courts and pools. Open gyms are constructed all around the campus. A sports quota is also there for sportspersons and a 24*7 gymnasium is also ava5for gymnastics. All of the departments have their own student bodies that are for and run by students. These bodies are responsible for fest management and websites.

The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

Placement Experience:

Students generally become eligible for placement from 7th semester, with numerous major companies like wipro, cognizant and various tech startups visit the campus with various offers. The university sees a high percentage of students getting placed. The package are widely depending on various skill and codes. Furthermore while the highest package looks impressive on paper, the avg package remains modest for the majority of the batch. My personal plans after getting the degree focus on exploring independent entrepreneurial ventures rather than tradition corporate placement.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
