Remarks

I'd rate SASTRA as one of the very best educational institutions and the management is very keen on maintaining very high standards. Am really fortunate to be a part of the institution and now am reaping great rewards for all the things I've learnt during my tenure with SASTRA

Entrance Preview

I took the Tamil Nadu board entrance and screening with SASTRA happened based on 12th cut-off for our batch. I was in top 30 and I was offered the course of my choice (IT). The admission process was hostle free and extremely transparent. We were offered an infrastructure tour and were detailed on all the facilities as well.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Excellent. Since SASTRA is an autonomous body, they doesn't take up the age old conventional sylabbis and instead came up with trending topics for curriculum. Topics like robotics, artificial intelligence, machine learning and cloud were all taken up purely based on market trends and that has paid rich dividends to all the students

Internships Opportunities

Not when I was studying. But from juniors I got to know that they offer internships and offer trips to German institution with which SASTRA has collaboration. General stipend given is in form of cash which would be discount on tution fee.

Placement Experience

4.5

95% was the placement record for our batch and the ones missed out were mostly the ones who opted out of placements. We have a dedicated department for training and placement which takes care of educating students and getting them prepared for professional interviews and also they are the ones who meet up with all major companies and invite them for placememts

College Events

4.5

Sports meet, cultural and symposium are regular with our college. I was fortunate to be a part of several science expos and also represented SASTRA in TIES (Inter college sports meet). I was also a.member of organizing committee for all cultural events and it creates bonding between fellow students and also offer leadership qualities.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure was nominal and was on par with other universities. They offered great exposures by having Super Computer labs, Mac labs and others.25000 was per semester fee and hostel fee was a minimal 6000 per year for the period when I was studying. Mess fee comes up to a meagre sum of 800 per month.

Fees and Financial Aid

University top rankers have been awarded with internal scholarships and from the subsequent batches got to know that there are external scholarships also available now for consistent top performers

Campus Life

4.5

Regarding gender ratio, boys and girls were in a 50-50 ratio. Hostels used to have fresher's party and that was a great ice breaker between first years and seniors. There are many sports tournaments like cricket, football, badminton, basketball, chess and carrom. They all helped in getting along with students from other majors and with other batches very well

Hostel Facilities

4

Excellent. There were 4 in 1 and single rooms available. Both were spacious and they come with storage options. Larger bathrooms and toilets with adequate water supply. I was a hosteling for all 4 yrs and mess food was really good. Diversely classified menu keeping people from diff regions in mind and we'll managed

Alumni/Alumna

Yes. Very much. My seniors helped me with most of my queries even before I joined SASTRA. now we have a registered group to guide new joiners and students starting from queries on college till getting internships and even with placements

Exam Structure

2 internal exams followed by an external semester. Students were given an optional 3rd internal if they wish to participate and boost their scores. The structure was well planned and apt. Students are thrived to perform consistently throughout the academic years and the exams were designed to test not just the text book knowledge but also their practical application

Admission

After submitting application forms with copy of mark sheets, the cut off score was computed and shotlisted candidates have been notified by mail. The shortlisted candidates were categorized by rank based on the scores and are given priority for choice of course. Admissions were issued followed by a quick interaction

Faculty

4.5

I'd rate the faculty of our college extremely high. Every staff that I had come across believed in continuous learning and improvement to offer the best guidance to the students. The staffs were all well qualified and extremely cooperative to help train and groom the students

I chose this course because it covers important subjects related to computer science, programming, databases, networking, and emerging technologies. The combination of theoretical knowledge and practical subjects influenced my decision to choose this course. The curriculum provides a good foundation in technical concepts and programming. However, more practical projects, industry-based training, internships, and real-world applications would help students become better prepared for careers and further studies.
