Engineering Life @SDMCET

Overall conclusion about my college is GOOD. Improvement required in maintenance of classrooms and lab equipment.

I went through "CET Karnataka" entrance exam and got a state rank of 4151 in Medical stream and 6315 in Engineering stream. I was interested in Engineering that too particularly in Mechanical field, So I opted for this college and also this college is near to my residence.

Course curriculum is good although it consists of much of theory than practical. Electives offered like "DESIGN OF IC ENGINES" , "TOOL DESIGN",, INTRODUCTION TO AIRCRAFT INDUSTRY", "FINITE ELEMENT METHOD", etc.. were useful as they are vital part of modern industries.

I personally don't aware of the Internship programs in our college. But in rough knowledge i can tell that good companies like "TCS", "BOSCH", "TECH MAHINDRA" etc. come to our college to offer job and Internship to students.

Sony selects 3 students from CS, IS, and EC branches with Avg package of Rs 4.5 Lakh. students have been shortlisted by SONY with an average package of Rs 4.5 Lakh per annum, TCS has shortlisted 210 students from various branches with Avg salary of Rs 3.25 Lakhs per annum, MindCraft has selected 17 students of our college from CS,IS,EC and EE branch with Avg package of Rs.3.25 Lakh per annum. Like this company recruited our students.

Biggest techno-cultural event of our college is "INSIGNIA" which was held for 3 days in the month of March. This Fest consists of more than 600 events including technical and cultural. Its a national level fest. Other than this college fest like FIESTA is also there.

Our college comes under ML (MINORITY LINGUISTIC) category made by the Government of Karnataka. The Fee structure is according to that. The Fee structure is feasible as compared to other colleges, our college also provides scholarship for SC/ST , economically backward students.

As I told earlier good scholarship facility is offered by our college of SC/ST and other students which encourages them to learn well. I don't know exactly about the loan facility.

Another awesomeness of our college is our campus. Good green, close to nature campus which is spread over 60 acres. College buildings, separate building for each branches makes college crowd free. Our college has huge diversity as students form North-East and other states present. Also students form all parts of Karnataka present in our college.

Hostel is very well maintained with strict rules, a good number of workers, security guards. One of the best feature of hostel is mess food. Good nutritious food is provided with regular change in the menu. Morning tea, tiff-in, Afternoon unlimited meals, evening snacks with tea, Night dinner. Special meals with special dishes will be there on every Saturday.

Senior students and alumni network is very strong in our college. A building named SILVER JUBILEE alumni block is also present in our college. Interactive sessions, guest lectures from old students are regularly held in our college where they share there experience in the college, outside college like companies, industries they working in.

Exams are neither hectic nor like chilling out. They are good at regular intervals. Exam timing and seating arrangements are always good and students friendly. Labs timing are also good, giving free time for students for their other co-curricular activities, innovative works.

After CET results, there was online counseling where I entered this college as first preference. I got a seat in this college in the 3rd round of counseling. An online generated form confirming my seat is obtained. I took that to college, with other documents like SSLC, PUC certificates, etc., and filled college admission form and submitted it. College administration was good, encouraging and supportive.

Almost all faculty of our college are Ph.D holders, M.Tech graduates. All lecturers are supportive, encouraging, punctual, well mannered. Every faculty take interest in every students, respond for every problem of students however silly it is. Take extra course like "ANSYS" software program, "CATIA" software program during non-college hours also.
