Remarks

The admission process was quite an event at JIIT. You are first required to fill out the form on the college website (www.jiit.ac.in). Then you will get a call for counseling on the mentioned date. The process becomes very time taking if your rank lies somewhere at the higher end of the range of ranks called for that day. And then you are assembled into one auditorium where you are called in the order of your rank. I feel like the college should think of diving this process into time slots so that the time required for the process could be cut.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course curriculum of Computer Science Engineering I would say is one of the toughest in JIIT, they do not follow old school methods and topics for teaching, also the college provides a lot of elective subjects, hence providing you with a lot of opportunities to study what you want to, also it provides you with an opportunity to get a subject specialization certificate with the degree, in my case I did specialization in Big Data Technologies. Faculty is also quite good in the CSE department, but since it is a deemed university so we cannot question the unfairness of faculties. Although I never faced any kind of unfairness in my four years still I always had this fear in my mind. Talking about exams, the most college organizes two tests per semester (mid-semester and end-semester), but JIIT has three tests per semester (T1, T2, and T3). T1, and T2 for 20 marks each and T3 for 35 marks, and 25 marks for Teachers Assessment. In total, we need 30 to pass, and if you get 15 total in T1, T2, and T3, you pass.

Internships Opportunities

4

One get do an internship at JIIT in two ways, one way is to get an internship in the companies visiting campus and another one is to do an in-house internship under some faculty, also since it is compulsory for everyone to do the internship before their fourth year, so the student can also do it off-campus and show college the certificate and project report on which they worked during internship.

Placement Experience

5

The placement situation is quite good for JIIT. Training and Placement are very hard-working and deserve applause for getting students placed (almost every student). Many companies visited the college and the highest packages were offered by Microsoft, Google, Morgan Stanley, and SAP Labs. On average, the package was 7-8 LPA. After completing 6th semester the placement journey starts and it undergoes till the last semester. Placement is almost 100% for last year's batch and ours is still undergoing so no comment on that. I am planning to join Oracle (as I got placed into it through campus placements). And then giving of GATE exam because the dream of IIT is never fulfilled.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees don't remain the same for all four years, and hence there is a hike in fees annually, last year per semester's fees for the 2019-23 batch is Rs. 1,37,250 per semester. And there are no such scholarships available for students, which is not so rare in private universities, but the placement opportunities we get in the end are worth these fees. Placements are better than many government colleges, the Training and Placement cell is very nice.

Campus Life

2.5

To be honest, this is the point where JIIT fails, social life and clubs are majorly handled by the people who are not so great academically, and hence the crowd of societies degrades very badly. There is only one annual fest and that also didn't take place for two years because of the Covid situation. Infrastructure is also very great for the 128 campuses. Amenities in classrooms are enough for students.

Other Applied Colleges

Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology - [Thapar University] | Bachelor of Engineering [BE] (Computer Science and Engineering)

It was too expensive and it was also quiet far from my hometown, so not very convinient.

Placement Experience:

Placements are both on and off-campus based. Placements are usually common for both IT and Non-IT students, Technical or Non-Technical. Students become eligible, in their final years to pursue internships or acquire placements. Usually students from Computer Science and Engineering avail more placement opportunities. The Medical Department have more options of Employability. Companies like HCL, Byju's, Extramarks, IBM and other local companies like Stambh Power Systems, Pieinfocomm and others have arrived. But the placement ratio needs to be increased. Off-Campus Placements are more successful. Highest Package can be 8lpa CTC to average package be 2.5lpa CTC, with profiles of assistance and associates. Atleast 30% students get placed on average. My plans are based on Learning in different ways.
