Course Curriculum Overview

1.5

I chose the BE CSE course because I had a keen interest in computer science but I didn't get into any other college so I had to join CU. There are a lot of faculty members available and they are more than enough to serve the students. The course curriculum has unnecessary subjects and LinkedIn courses of 50+ hours in the first year. The teachers for coding-related subjects are fine but for the rest of the subjects like physics, electrical and electronics, etc, the teachers are not up to the mark. They don't feel like teaching and just enter the class to take attendance. Most of the teachers are qualified from Chandigarh University only and joined the university as assistant professors. There are monthly exams and surprise tests which are not very difficult to pass and one can easily get a decent score in these exams by studying one day before the exam.

Internships Opportunities

2.5

The curriculum includes working on projects and research paper-related work from the first semester. This, later on, helps in getting internships. The average stipend as mentioned by the university is around 38000 which seems very high because the seniors I've talked to, received around 15000 only. Most of the internships are taken off campus. The university informs about any internship opportunity available. So there are no particular companies that provide internships. You have to work hard and apply for them on your own.

Placement Experience

2.5

From the 6th semester, the students are eligible for campus placements. A lot of companies come for placements like Morgan Stanley, Adobe, Goldman Sachs, and Amazon but most of the placements include mass recruitments. The highest international package offered was in the year 2020-21 at 1.7cr and the highest national package is 54lpa. The average package is around 5lpa. There are over 900 recruiters and 9500 students got placed in this session. Around 85% of the eligible students are placed. I am planning to go for higher education in a better institute after getting the degree

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees are comparatively higher than Chitkara University. the tuition fee for my course is 1,21,000 per semester and there's an additional examination fee as well as a library fee. in addition to that, hostelers have to pay the hostel fee which is more than 1.5 lakh per year and is not justified at all because the hostels are pathetic. There are a lot of ways to avail of scholarships on the tuition fees. Students with more than 90%ile in JEE main get a 50% scholarship on tuition fees. Students with more than 90% marks in the 12th Board exams also get a 50% scholarship. There is also a scholarship exam called cucet. In order to maintain the scholarship, one has to score more than 7.5cgpa. Financial assistance is provided to start-ups but the procedure is very time taking and the start-up idea has to be brilliant. Some of my seniors have got campus jobs in TCS and Wipro with an average 5lpa package.

Campus Life

2.5

The campus is huge but the infrastructure is poor. There are no screens for projectors and yellow walls are used as screens. The classrooms are pathetic and not maintained with flies in the classrooms, broken benches and almost every bench has an opened hook on its corner which tears through clothes and cuts the skin. There is not much involvement of seniors with juniors and the Students are generally restricted to their class only. There are a lot of fests and events though, for example, the tech invents, which is the tech fest and takes place in the month of May. Sports and other extracurricular activities also have a poor state. The sports complex is not even on the campus, but outside the campus. It doesn't even have proper facilities for different sports and is not even managed properly. There's no cricket ground or football field. The libraries are good with decent space and facilities. There are some student clubs like an IEEE club which provide some contact with seniors and alumni

Admission

The admission process did not involve any kind of entrance tests. But there was a test for a scholarship. You apply for the scholarship test on the official CU website or contact them on the phone number given on the website for admission or scholarship test and then you just need to pay the fees to get admission. The admission procedure is always open for almost all the courses and a candidate can apply at any time. I felt that this procedure has made it simple for anyone to apply for the university and hence there are a lot of students in the university which is a drawback.

Other Applied Colleges

Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies - [NMIMS] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Engineering)

Only 18 students in the batch and it was the first year for their course. So the future didn't seem promising.

Companies start coming summer internships in the 5th and 6th semester though ,CG cuts are imposed so very less students are elgible to sit for these companies, The real placement season is 7th and 8th semester and many companies visit campus for placements. around 60 percent students got placed in the recent placement drive. The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
