Course Curriculum Overview
A Master's of chemistry is a course that opens so many opportunities in different sectors. I personally want to join FSSAI as a junior food analyst for which I need to have a Master's degree in chemistry or biochemistry or microbiology. The faculty of chemistry at dtu is average. The faculty is well trained and qualified, out of which 90% are Ph.D. and Postdoc holders having experience of more than 5 to 7 years. But still, there's a communication gap between students & faculty members. The teaching quality is not that good and teachers are a little bit lazy & relaxed. No proper notes or study material is provided by a few teachers. There is a semester examination system and the exam is conducted twice in a semester. There is a mid-semester and end-semester exam of 25 and 50 marks respectively. The level of the exam is not that tough & you can easily get pass it with some amount of seriousness during your exams. If you want to score really well then that requires more dedication and consistency.
Internships Opportunities
A lot of Companies come to dtu for permanent placement offer as well as internships. Companies like Perfect and Havells visited the campus and offered positions like research interns or research assistants with a stipend of approximately 20k per month working on the purification of water as their major project. Interns are selected by the Companies on the basis of their subject knowledge, skills, and academics. Students are interviewed by Company authorities in two or three rounds and the final selected candidates then get introduced to the team already working on projects. Projects related to the synthesis of nanoparticles were taken into account by companies like havells for their application in biosensors and batteries in the real world.
Placement Experience
A lot of companies visit dtu campus for placements and students are eligible to sit for it in their final or pre-final semester of the course. Companies like Akash byju, Chegg, havells, Zigram, physics wallah have visited the campus for placements for various posts like research assistant, business analyst, project manager, and subject matter expert, etc. The highest package was around 15Lpa for the post of data scientist and average packages were more than 4lpa for the profiles like research assistant and subject matter expert. The placement ratio is not that bad as in my class 15-20 out of 55 got placed with decent salary packages. If you are really good with your subject knowledge and skilled enough, it is not that hard to get placed in dtu. As I have mentioned earlier I want to join FSSAI as a junior food analyst. FSSAI is my dream workplace and hopefully, I'm on my way to getting there probably soon.
Fees and Financial Aid
The annual fee for a master's in chemistry from dtu is not that much but yes it is more in comparison to other central universities like DU, JNU, and HCU. It is an affordable course, to be honest, and any one coming from a middle-class family can pursue this. You can also apply for financial assistance at dtu for which forms, eligibility, and procedure can be checked on the official website and you can get to know about all the steps easily once you get to college. The placements for the chemistry department are quite good at dtu as compared to other central universities. A lot of research and development companies, Ed tech start-ups, and firms like Akash byju, and Chegg visit the campus for placements. The placement ratio is good as 15-20 out of 55 got placed with decent packages. Dtu gives you great exposure to the real world.
Campus Life
The biggest annual fest of dtu is Engifest and it is one hell crowded event at the university. Engifest is conducted for 3 days once a year.
