Course Curriculum Overview

4

Being from the general computer science and engineering department, the crowd is huge here so as is the faculty. The faculty is decent one in our department. Few teachers are well experienced and few just come to read out the PPT in class. Majorly the teachers are Ph.D. holders and few are doing the Ph.D. while teaching. Overall the staff in our department is pretty well like the kind of teachers I got are friendly and experienced.

Internships Opportunities

2.5

Since I am in my second year so now I have not been able to get any internship from the college side. Cu gives students internships majorly at the 6th-semester end. Heard out from my seniors CU gives students ample opportunities to go for internships and calls a few companies on campus for internship opportunities.

Placement Experience

3.5

For the computer science and engineering department, Chandigarh University has a good hands-on on-campus placement. Almost every company like the big giants Google, Amazon, IBM, Flipkart, etc., small companies, and new startups come for the placements on the campus. Very few like 5 out 5000 receive very high packages rest of the students settle around with a package of 3-4 lakh approx. The companies start coming to the campus in the 7th-semester beginning.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure of Chandigarh University is much more decent as compared to other private engineering colleges. For batch 2021, we had a fee structure of 184000 per year. Despite that Chandigarh, University offers many scholarships to almost every student in the first year and if you want to continue your scholarship next year you have to maintain a CGPA of atleat 7.5. that's the only possible way out to continue the scholarship. Regarding the scholarship, the college called the company at the 6th-semester end for the internship opportunities.

Campus Life

3.5

The best part of college is the huge campus. CU has almost every facility on campus with lots of cafeterias, chai theka, and many more. Adding to that almost every weekend or two cu holds an event, whether a celebrity is coming for a movie promotion, DJ night or tarkash night happens. CU fest is the biggest fest that the college holds that goes for 2 days. Each place around there is a stall for games, food, and a lot of dance and enjoyment. Teach-a-thon is the technical fest that happens in the college that involves coding competitions and people from the coding world come to share their experiences with students.

Admission

Chandigarh University has its entrance exam named CUCET. It's not an admission entrance exam logically it's just to avail of the scholarship. CU provides scholarships on various basis, one is this entrance and the second one is based on your class 12 percentage. If you are 90 percent and above scorer, you will have a 50 percent academic scholarship. Depending on your percentage you can get that.

Other Applied Colleges

Vellore Institute of Technology - [VIT University] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)

The fees was too high for a middle class family.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
